Job Description

Our Senior Director, Global Decision Sciences & Insights (GDSI) for the HIV/EV pipeline leads a team focusing on market and customer insights, forecasting, and analytics. Key stakeholders include the HIV/EV Pipeline Global Strategic Marketing team, the HIV Launch Global Strategic Marketing team and various internal partners. This role reports to the Executive Director, Global Decision Sciences & Insights, HIV/COVID/Emerging Viruses. The responsibilities include but are not limited to overseeing team projects, driving HIV pipeline insights, participating in high-profile projects, and collaborating with internal stakeholders globally.

This role is located in our Foster City, CA office (3 days in office, 2 days work from home).

The individual will:

  • Lead a team of individual contributors in market research, forecasting, and analytics.
  • Guide the team with solid hands-on technical skills across analytics, forecasting, and market research.
  • Lead identification of information needs for upcoming critical business decisions and define global primary market research and data analytics priorities, together with GSM leads
  • Drive robust integrated insights generation and deliver a clear and compelling storyline for HIV/EV pipeline and HIV Lenacapavir Launch, supporting strategic decision-making.
  • Serve as the key contact for HIV Lenacapavir Launch and HIV/EV pipeline-related market and customer insights and forecasts.
  • Collaborate with Data Science for deeper insights into market dynamics and customer behaviors.
  • Manage team development, fostering a culture of measurement and impact.

Essential duties include:

  • Defining a vision and leading the team of individual contributors.
  • Providing hands-on market analytics and insights leadership for global marketing strategy.
  • Leading strategic forecasting and commercial assessment activities for pipeline products and communication of assessments and recommendations to the senior leadership team.
  • Acting as the integrated insights lead as well as a business partner for HIV/EV pipeline, representing the team in key situations.
  • Leading ad hoc strategy projects and initiatives.
  • Collaborating with key internal partners to improve efficiency and consistency.
  • Enabling professional growth and development for individual contributors through leadership effectiveness and solid technical skills.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and 14 Years’ Experience

OR

Masters' Degree and 12 Years’ Experience

OR

PhD and 12 Years’ Experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • With a Bachelor’s degree, at least 14 years’ relevant experience in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or consulting with a focus in one or more areas of market research, forecasting, analytics, decision analytics, commercial strategy, or marketing or at least 12 years’ experience (with an advanced degree)
  • MBA, Ph.D. in Life Sciences, or M.D. is preferred
  • Experience specific to the HIV therapeutic area is preferred
  • Impeccable credibility as a commercial analytics expert and partner with the brand teams, country teams and other cross-functional partners
  • Business leadership experience, and a track record of “influencing without authority” (specifically, more senior Commercial and cross-functional partners) in successful conflict resolution, and driving consensus
  • Prior experience conducting, analyzing, and communicating qualitative and quantitative market research is required
  • Experience in patient-based market/revenue modeling is required
  • Must possess good task management skills, planning, prioritization, objective setting, and meeting management and plan execution
  • History of working and delivering on multiple projects simultaneously, with tight deadlines and changing priorities is required
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are required
  • Ability to effectively leverage Microsoft Office (specifically PowerPoint and Excel) to present quantitative data in graphical form is required
  • Experience in successfully presenting to senior leadership audiences, including simplifying complex materials, educating, and managing audiences with differing viewpoints to get to alignment via clear and compelling storylines
  • Experience in biopharmaceutical-focused marketing, commercial strategy, or consulting is desirable
  • Proven history of working and delivering on multiple projects simultaneously, with tight deadlines and changing priorities is required
  • Passionate about the function, and a natural curiosity to solve complex problems

The salary range for this position is: $255,425.00 - $330,550.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
