Overview

This position reports to the President of Terranea Resort and will play an integral part contributing to strategic priorities as part of the Executive Committee Team. This position is supported by the Director of Finance and is responsible for playing an ongoing role in the creation, execution and refinement of profitable financial strategies designed to maximize opportunities for Terranea, while also ensuring excellence in the Company’s day-to-day financial accounting, reporting, analytical and planning functions, as well as the integration of best practices in finance and other facets of hotel operations.

We are seeking a leader who is the embodiment of a cultural ambassador and a peak performer. The Vice President Finance is an influential leader who makes things happen. The individual must have seasoned business savvy mindset and be a value-added team member. This leader will be expected to constantly maintain the "big picture" perspective relative to long-term objectives of the investors, the lenders, as well as current Resort operations, performance, profitability, and goal achievement. At the same time, the Vice President Finance must be entrepreneurial and detail-oriented; willing to roll up his/her sleeves and is hands-on whenever necessary. They must have an analytical mind sufficient to assess business performance and opportunities, as well as to evaluate problems and develop solutions. A polished and dynamic team player, an open, willing communicator who is not uncomfortable or shy in dealing directly with challenging issues. Effective communication is a key ingredient to success in this position. Must be professional and ethical, demonstrating personal integrity, loyalty, tact, sound judgment, openness, and diligence. Provide strategic guidance and input to the Resort interfacing on a consistent regular basis with the President, Executive Committee, and Leadership Team. Provide clear leadership and direction to the Terranea finance, technology, and purchasing team.

Scope of Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Actively invest the time and energy necessary to become extremely knowledgeable with all documents associated with Terranea including the lender requirements, ownership documents, management agreements, investor requirements and major decision management and control of any and all documents and agreements related to the investors and lenders. 
  • Ensure full understanding for all aspects of the property including the underlying vision, business model, culture, values, competitors, financial data and projections, budgets, proformas, timelines, long-range plans and key priorities.
  • Direct and assume responsibility for proper execution of the Project’s accounting practices, maintenance of accurate financial records, and the timely preparation of consolidated financial reports.
  • Utilize standard reporting, as well as insightful comprehensive metrics, to drive continuous improvement for the Resort. This responsibility also includes Project financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, accounting and cash management for all aspects of Terranea including operations and real estate management and sales.
  • Review historical and projected cash flows. Take required actions to ensure cash flow is appropriately managed. Ensure that cash is managed in accordance with lender and LLC requirements. Open and maintain bank accounts as necessary. Communicate to the President and owners, as necessary.
  • Manage reporting and control processes and communication to adhere to all lender and investor requirements, as well as, establish working relationship with investors and lenders to facilitate required approvals.
  • Interpret operating results, real estate sales and other events as they affect the financial aspects of the Resort, making specific recommendations that will result in cost reductions, profit improvement and benefit to the Resort overall. Utilize staff as needed to conduct related analyses. Coordinate improvements with Property Operations.
  • Create a positive working environment that is enjoyable and highly productive. Hire, build and lead a high-performance team that is service and result oriented, committed to the timely delivery of accurate information. Provide career coaching to Resort finance staff and others as may be assigned. In conjunction with Property Operations, employ customized evaluations, career planning sessions and cooperative goal setting.
  • Ability to quickly learn and comply with related governance of complex capital and debt structures is required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 15 years of finance experience in the hospitality, real estate, and condominium industries.
  • Energetic self-starter, with strong leadership skills, work ethic, and highest level of integrity.
  • Experience in closing the sale of resort real estate.
  • Experience in the management of HOA allocations and budgets within a resort environment .
  • An undergraduate degree in accounting is required; an MBA and/or CPA are preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of complex financial modeling within Excel is ideal and overall advanced computer competency.

Compensation

Base pay Start Rate: $225,000/Yr.
