Overview

The Assistant Golf Professional’s role at Terranea Resort is an opportunity for a progressive, energetic PGA Class A Professional or PGA Associate to be integrally involved operation of a 9-hole par-3 golf course within the only oceanfront destination resort in Los Angeles. In addition to the 9-holes, a short-game practice area comprised of a large putting green and separate chipping green will provide an ideal environment for short game lessons and clinics. The golf operations team will interact and collaborate closely with other recreation and service departments of the resort.

Responsibilities

  • Daily open and closing of the golf shop and checklist management
  • Cash handling procedures
  • Checking In Guests and reserving tee times on EZ Links
  • Daily Reporting and paperwork to accounting
  • Monitoring Part-time staff for checklist completion and detail
  • Reporting staff coaching opportunities to MOD
  • Resolving guest opportunities and managing pace of play
  • Coordinating the daily lunch and lesson schedule and reporting conflicts to MOD
  • Assisting with outside operations as necessary
  • Coordinating tee-time events, small shotguns, and team builders and overseeing day of operations of these events with Director or Head Golf Professional
  • Creating and filing reports and invoices.
  • Assisting and Developing Junior Camps/Clinics
  • Assisting and Developing Ladies Programs and Classes
  • Teaching Private and Semi Private Lessons
  • Creating Revenue Generating Golf Programs
  • Working early mornings, nights, and weekends as business levels demand

  • Process Group Requests
  • Maintain Tee Sheet
  • Check Players In
  • Maintain knowledge of Fees
  • Explain equipment Rental Agreement
  • Schedule Golf Lessons
  • Maintain proper operation of Point of Sale System and Reservations System
  • Process Payments
  • Process: Cash, Room Charge, Credit Card, Check, Travelers Check, Gift Certificate, Golf Group Payments, and other promotional items
  • Issue Gift Certificates
  • Process Employee Discounts and Purchases
  • Process and validate Coupons

Qualifications

  • BA / BS degree, preferred.
  • PGA Class A Member or PGA Associate, or 3 years equivalent experience as Assistant Golf Professional
  • Knowledge of teaching all aspects of the game.
  • Demonstrated experience and capability in staff relations, retail, marketing, and/or sales and customer service, guest relations experience required
  • Proficiency with computer software including word processing, spreadsheet/financial and basic graphics programs, POS software, tournament software
  • Demonstrated quality written, verbal, interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including nights/weekends.
  • Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations.
  • Consistently achieves high performance on standards and is accurate, timely, and attentive to detail
  • Exhibits a strong understanding of technology and systems for the benefit of both departmental performance and the overall guest experience.

Experience, Education, & Licensure:

  • BA / BS degree, preferred.
  • PGA Class A Member, PGA Apprentice, or 3 years equivalent experience as Assistant Golf Professional

Compensation

Base Pay Start Rate: $18.50/Hr.
