The Business Controller for HemoCue is responsible for performing and overseeing critical financial and operational functions within our organization.

This position is part of the finance department located in Centurion and will be hybrid. At HemoCue, our vision is to do things easier, to do things better, and to do them right.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

Month End Closing:

  • Execute month/quarter/ year end close processes.
  • Perform timely monthly GL account reconciliations.
  • Support FM on Month-end reporting in ERP system
  • Payroll preparation and coordination with third party payroll processing firm.

Accounting:

  • Oversee Intercompany accounting activities, including cross charges.
  • Management of Fixed Assets Register

Compliance & Statutory Reporting:

  • Co-ordination with internal and external auditors
  • Prepare tax submissions, payroll tax, VAT, provisional tax and annual income tax.
  • Drive compliance in all finance related matters.
  • Support on Balance Sheet Reviews, Compliance audits and SOX audits

Budget & Forecasting:

  • Monitor actual expenses vs budget.
  • Preparation of Forecasts

Other:

  • Lead and drive BBBEE initiatives
  • Lead the corporate credit cards program, including capturing of credit card expenses.
  • Support the debtors collection efforts.
  • Treasury: Review payments and maintain banking profile for all accounts.
  • Local HR administrative functions

The essential requirements of the job include:

Education:

  • Completed Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting is essential

Job experience & skills required:

  • 2 to 4 years commercial experience
  • BBBEE experience
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of accounting principles.
  • Strong SAGE Pastel experience

To be successful in this position we believe you have to be highly analytical, display an exceptional level of attention to detail and possess advanced Microsoft office skills. Experience and/or knowledge from the Medical Device Industry and completed SAIPA articles will be advantageous.
