Overview

Job Summary: The Activity Instructor provides various workshops and activities for young people to learn new skills; as well as an avenue for self-development and expression.

Title: ACTIVITY INSTRUCTOR (Sports & Volleyball)

Reports To: Program Director

Location: 1580 Dean Street, Brooklyn NY 11213

Hours: Up to 12 Hours/Week; Non-Exempt

SALARY: $19/hr - $25/hr

Major Duties:

  • Develop age appropriate sports and teambuilding activities for children in grades 6 through 8.
  • Submit lesson/activity plans in advance.
  • Complete daily progress reports.
  • Manage setup, operation and clean up of activities and the organization, inventory and storing of relevant supplies and equipment.
  • Assist in development and implementation of culminating events or projects.
  • Plan and implement a culminating event or project.
  • Maintain strict adherence to policies and procedures at all times.
  • Maintain program space.
  • Attend all staff meetings and staff development trainings sessions, as specified.
  • Provide direction, supervision and guidance at all times.
  • Must be able to work well with school’s administration and staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Must have experience or skill in performing or visual arts, sports, recreation, crafts and/or physical education.
  • Excellent group facilitation skills.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.
