Overview

Provides administrative support to the Unit/Program head in support of overall administrative effectiveness of program(s) and candidate experience within the Graduate School of Education (GSE).

Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the immediate supervisor with latitude for the exercise of independent initiative and judgment the administrative assistant is responsible for the operations of GSE's Manhattan campus office. The Administrative Assistant:

  • Provides support in student recruitment by answering and forwarding requests for information as well as organizing application materials
  • Assists in the admissions and student registration process and records overrides of courses as approved
  • Informs the supervisor on a weekly basis of current enrollment numbers
  • Informs students regarding course offerings
  • Serves as administrative liaison between unit faculty, administrative offices, and external constituents
  • Prepares requisitions and orders supplies
  • Communicates with technical personnel regarding posting of schedules and website information
  • Informs students regarding graduation application process
  • Compiles graduation lists for submission to the graduation officer/committee
  • Assists with course scheduling
  • Assists in the preparation of seminars and candidate registration for clinical experience
  • Assists with the processing of student appeals as appropriate
  • Assists in the organization of faculty meetings as appropriate
  • Assists and support efforts for continuous improvement state approval of programs and national accreditation
  • In the temporary absence of the immediate supervisor assumes responsibility for the office
  • Upholds the missions and visions of Touro and GSE
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education, Preparation and Training

  • Associate Degree required, bachelor’s degree desired (compensation varies by credentials)
  • Ability to work collaboratively and collegially in a fast-paced environment
  • Successful, prior administrative experience desired

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities

  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proactive problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, verbally and in writing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, ZOOM, and enrollment management platforms such as Anthology and Apply Yourself Hobsons
  • Proficiency with social media desired

Maximum Salary

USD $37,291.00/Yr.

Minimum Salary

USD $30,368.00/Yr.
