Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Director of Communications & Relationship Lead - Corporate Services.

In this role, the successful candidate will spearhead the communications efforts for the Real Estate, Development & Facilities (RED+F), Finance, Medical Center Information Technology (MCIT), and Development / Alumni Affairs departments. This high-visibility role will serve as the Primary Relationship Lead for these departments, acting as a trusted advisor who works with the department leaders to shape communications initiatives that advance their strategy, engage stakeholders, and align with NYULHs institutional goals.

Reporting directly to the Head of Enterprise Communications, you will play a critical role in shaping the Enterprise Communications strategy for NYULH while advancing the mission and objectives of the RED+F, Finance, MCIT, and Development / Alumni Affairs departments.

Job Responsibilities:

Relationship Management:

  • Act as the relationship lead between C&M and the RED+F, Finance, MCIT, and Development / Alumni Affairs departments by acting as a trusted communications and marketing advisor that understands their visions and objectives, strategically helps them shape their agenda, and proactively deploys aligned marketing and communications tactics
  • Triage requests from the RED+F, Finance, MCIT, and Development / Alumni Affairs departments; identify and organize teams in Brand, Experience, Creative, & Design COE, Content Strategy & Development COE, Media Relations COE, Program Measurement & Business Operations Platform, and Enterprise Communications COE, to harness the power of the C&M Community of Practice to deploy the right advisors and doers to realize service line goals 
  • Oversee the team deployed to execute on department vision by providing departmental context, clear objectives, and guidelines for executing an effective strategy
  • Act as a key day-to-day partner to department heads, assisting in execution of marketing and communications strategies
  • Partner with media relations team to coordinate and prepare the RED+F, Finance, MCIT, and Development / Alumni Affairs departments, and relevant team members for public speaking engagements

Strategic Communications:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy that supports the goals and initiatives of the RED+F, Finance, MCIT, and Development / Alumni Affairs departments
  • Monitor, refine, and track reception of all institutional communications coming from the RED+F, Finance, MCIT, and Development / Alumni Affairs departments, ensuring alignment with the overall institutional strategy
  • Provide strategic guidance on key messaging and engagement strategies segmented by audience that maintain consistency in tone, quality, and coordination
  • Oversee and engage with material development process for the RED+F, Finance, MCIT, and Development / Alumni Affairs departments, including internal communications, publications, and content for speaking engagements
  • Review and approve content generated for staff briefings, FAQs, and key messages on crucial RED+F, Finance, MCIT, and Development / Alumni Affairs departments topics
  • Support staff in the RED+F, Finance, MCIT, and Development / Alumni Affairs departments in maximizing their impact during speaking and communications opportunities by refining presentations, visuals, and content

Collaboration and Influence:

  • Collaborate with the Institutional Communications Lead to develop a thought leadership strategy showcasing updates from the RED+F, Finance, MCIT, and Development / Alumni Affairs departments through various channels such as social media and speaking engagements
  • Work with the Program Measurement Center of Excellence to establish measurement strategies and key performance indicators (KPIs); integrate these metrics into decision-making processes to maximize the impact of communications
  • Foster enthusiasm and awareness of the institution's significant contributions to build a sense of pride among the workforces

Team Development and Management:

  • Guide the team on how work gets done, set priorities, ensure standards of excellence are understood and adhered to
  • Ensure clarity for the vision of the team to help them understand their role in the overall strategy of the institution
  • Champion NYULH’s strong continuous improvement culture, encouraging a test-and-learn approach

Financial Management:

Manage the allocated budget and operational forecasts for the Communications & Relations efforts specifically for the RED+F, Finance, MCIT, and Development / Alumni Affairs departments, working with the Chief of Staff

Minimum Qualifications:

To qualify you must have a 9+ years of experience leading a corporate communications function in a highly regulated industry

3+ years of management experience leading effective teams

Accomplished writer, editor, and communicator; guides others with the authority to influence both individuals and outcomes

Adept at building rapport and exhibiting strong interpersonal skills, with an established track record of cultivating relationships with executive leadership

Experience creating and managing thought leadership initiatives

Entrepreneurial mindset and a bias towards testing and learning

Demonstrated orientation towards client service

Exceptional leadership skills, demonstrating the ability to influence, teach, inspire, motivate, and collaborate effectively

Proven ability to work effectively in a highly matrixed environment

Experience in healthcare clinical and operational domain

Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, or related field

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters degree in communications, public relations, or related field

Experience working with RED+F, Finance, MCIT, and/or Development / Alumni Affairs departments

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $138,098.48 - $189,874.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
