Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Financial Services Associate.

In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for maintaining Patient Financial Services (PFS) records. Retrieves records and files, scans and inputs into records, as needed, and ensures system data is well organized and accurate. Performs a variety of other clerical tasks in support of the department.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Handles all mail and correspondence for the Patient Financial Services Department (PFS). Prioritizes information requests and insurance denial letters.
  • Tracks all correspondence in the PFS Workflow System. Scans into the appropriate tabs within the hospital's Document Imaging System and enters notes in the Patient Accounting System.
  • Distributes all Patient Financial System daily reports, itemized statements, smartcard requests, and claim forms (UB04 bills).
  • Responds to internal and external requests for medical records requests related to claims processing. Retrieves medical records from document imaging or electronic medical record systems, as needed.
  • Orders hard copy records from departments or Health Information Management (HIM) when needed to comply with requests. Distributes records to PFS representatives for submission.
  • Processes revised attestations from Health Information Management. Enters amended ICD-9 or ICD-10 procedures and DX codes for claims corrections.

Minimum Qualifications:

To qualify you must have a High School or GED. 1 - 2 years previous work experience. Strong communication (both written and oral), detail orientation, customer service, organization, and multitasking skills. Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office especially Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to interact with personnel at all levels within and outside of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

1 - 2 years in an office setting.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $48,274.09 - $50,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
