Quality Control Supervisor - Peekskill, NY

The QC Lab Supervisor supervises the union workforce for the standard 12-hour daytime shift. They will maintain time and attendance programs for tracking hourly personnel for compliance with site attendance policies. This position is responsible for ensuring adequate staffing levels for upcoming shifts through the scheduling of vacation and overtime. This role also ensures all operating procedures are followed by the technicians. Deviations from any of these procedures should be followed up and corrective actions implemented to ensure compliance. The Supervisor role is also tasked to identify potential areas needing additional training by the technicians and follow up to ensure such training is provided. The role functions through direct supervision of laboratory technicians and indirectly by working through other groups to meet our established product quality targets. If nonconforming products are produced, this supervisory role must proactively get involved in and provide information for root cause investigations.

Responsibilities:

  • Set/maintain high standards of housekeeping within the department, monitoring through documented housekeeping audits, making assignments as needed to address deficiencies, and ensuring all areas of the laboratory are covered via site 6S program.
  • Submit complete and thorough written quality logs documenting the activities of the shift, communicate issues with peers and different levels of the organization as appropriate on a timely basis.
  • Supervise daily safety issues in the department, documenting safety incidents through the Accident/Incident Management Program and manage all cases promptly and thoroughly.
  • Maintain the department’s ISO/GMP documents and support site initiatives through internal audit programs, quality investigations, product performance and equipment calibration reviews.
  • Accountable for the decision to move or hold production materials from advancing to the next stage of operation.
  • Lead and participate in daily tailgate meetings to review safety messages, communicate work assignments, review production status & priorities and attend the Daily Operations Team meetings.
  • Identify gaps within the manufacturing areas and recommend process control alternatives.
  • Process manufacturing knowledge for creative and value-added solutions.
  • Review and approve all incoming non bulk raw materials based on CoA and QC lab test results.

Education & Experience:

  • HS Diploma or GED Equivalent required. 
  • Technical knowledge regarding process controls along with analytical chemistry procedures and microbiology techniques for the evaluation of finished goods. This includes a basic understanding of product regulatory requirements and system integrations for information management.
  • Leadership skills that focus on coaching, teamwork, and laboratory safety
  • Knowledge of ISO / GMP /RCMS standards (Knowledge of Halal and RSPO standards is a plus)
  • Knowledge of SPC, DOE and /or other statistical methods
  • Experience with Laboratory safety standards, procedures, and ability to implement new requirements.

Plus:

  • Associates or two-year Business or Management degree preferred. 
  • Process knowledge and/or first line supervisory experience desired.
  • Instrumentation familiarity. (Knowledge of Color Measurement and Particle Size Distribution instrumentation)
