This is an exciting opportunity, in Global Specialty IT for an experienced Staff Software Engineer, with a strong background in Software Engineering and Application Support executing within the Agile operating model. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about technology, product development and can thrive in a fast-paced environment to support the maintenance and enhancement of ImageRight, our enterprise wide content management and workflow system. 

Essential job functions included but are not limited to the following: 

  • Work with colleagues and technical resources to define technical solutions that meet business requirements 
  • Participate in the design, development, testing and debugging of an application. 
  • Troubleshoot and ensure timely and effective resolutions of any project issues. 
  • Participate in code reviews, both of your own code and as a reviewer. 
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for process and product improvement. 
  • Conducts technical research on new technology for possible new aspects of a product or components needing redesign or updating. 
  • Prepare product documentation, support materials, and internal documentation.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related technical field) or equivalent practical experience 
  • 5+ Years experience in software development 
  • Design and architecture knowledge 
  • Experience with Agile software development 
  • Have an intense passion for innovating and crafting clean code 
  • Experience with Enterprise Document Management tools (ImageRight or Similar) 
  • Experience with .NET 
  • Experience with VBScript or similar 
  • Experience with relational databases including SQL 
  • Experience with insurance industry workflow 
  • Are in-tune with high performance and high availability design/programming 
  • Have experience in security best practices for software and data platforms 
  • Enjoy solving problems through the entire application stack 
  • Are interested and capable of learning other programming languages as needed. 

The Hartford is proud to offer a hybrid work location model that is designed to support flexibility. This partial remote position requires in office presence Tuesday/ Wednesday/ Thursday with remote work flexibility Monday and Friday. Office locations include: Danbury, CT or Hartford, CT. 

Must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$114,720 - $172,080
