Job Description

We are looking for a talented engineer for the development team, working in Secure Web Gateway and Firewall technologies of “Zscaler Internet Access” (ZIA) product. This role requires a deep understanding and knowledge of distributed data management. This is an excellent opportunity to enable a fast-growing engineering team of a massively scalable product that has redefined how Security services are delivered.

Responsibilities:

• Design and Develop components of Zscalers Distributed state management framework for global scale.
• Analyze fault-tolerance and high availability issues, performance and scale challenges, and solve them.
• Enhance the existing distributed framework for better instrumentation, performance and stability. 
• Operational readiness, escalation handling for the Zscaler distributed state management framework.
• Developing and owning components of software products with a keen sense for high performance and scalability
• Work with QA engineering teams to investigate and resolve production issues
• You will be expected to participate in all phases of the product development cycle, from definition, design, through implementation and test
• Develop functional specifications, assess task requirements and scheduling, and participate in the development, debug and support

Qualifications:

• 5+ years experience and proficiency in Software Development.
• Strong coding skills in C & C++ programming languages.
• Basic understanding of various algorithms to achieve distributed consensus, Leader election, distributed lock etc.
• Basic understanding of trade-offs between consistency and availability while analyzing the resource costs to achieve them.
• Past experience with distributed consistent hash frameworks is highly desirable.
• Good Understanding of low level operating systems concepts including multi-threading, memory management, networking and storage, performance and scale
• Experience with code repositories like git/subversion and build systems. Knowledge of the Makefile system is highly desirable. 
• Strong in Computer Science fundamentals, Algorithms and Data Structures
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
• Self-starter takes initiative & ownership, identifies and completes tasks; goal driven

Zscaler’s salary ranges are benchmarked and are determined by role and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations and could be higher or lower based on a multitude of factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

The base salary range listed for this full-time position excludes commission/ bonus/ equity (if applicable) + benefits.

Base Pay Range

$148,750—$175,000 USD
