Global Index Research – Fixed Income – Quantitative – Associate

J.P. Morgan’s Global Index Research Group is the central hub for fixed income security analytics and fixed income indices within the Corporate and Investment bank, and is part of the Global Research organization. The group is a leading provider of indices across fixed income with a market leading presence in Emerging Market (EM) and Developed Market (DM) Indices, accounting for over 95% of the market with over $700 billion in assets tracking the various EM index products.The Index Group is responsible for creating, managing and marketing J.P. Morgan proprietary indices and commercialization of research fixed income data. We are looking for a quantitative analyst that will work with the index product and fixed income analysts within the Index Research desk to build, backtest and launch new products to support the Research franchise. 

As an analyst in global index research, you will have a firm understanding of market data and data technologies and as well as a strong project management ability in a technical setting. You will partner with our product experts, technology teams, and operations organization to deliver our franchise’s data products, improve our processes and innovate in the market. Technical understanding, attention to detail and organizational skills are critical.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Drive the design, implementation and launch of index and analytics products, across the full development lifecycle and in partnership with stakeholders across the Research business. This includes leading the efforts on planning and testing new features and calculations, data feeds, coordinating UAT phases, and maintaining supporting documentation for production releases
  • Project oversight of complex analytics product build efforts that span multiple teams and geographies. Coordinate status updates and level set with stakeholders and senior product owners.
  • Support of system enhancement efforts as well as improvements to our current workflows. This entails detailed analysis and documentation and writing business requirement documents for the technology teams.
  • Participate in the prioritization effort to queue new development and features for the index and fixed income analytics build
  • Maintain engagement with our client teams and analytics clients on questions and enhancements to the data offering and channels (including realtime feeds, data feeds, and analytics calculators). Partner with the commercialization team to satisfy opportunities and ensure our offering and strategy aligns
  • Coordinate with firm-wide strategic programs that are relevant to the index and security analytics efforts, maintaining relationships and identifying synergies for our products and large scale efforts
  • Be able to maintain a high level view of the organization’s efforts with the ability to deep dive and support the work hands on

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills: 

  • Minimum education and requirements: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Financial Engineering, Economics/Finance, or related field. Masters degree a plus.
  • Technology or quantitative related work experience in financial services
  • Experience with SQL and data manipulation techniques
  • Experience with Python a plus
  • Familiarity with market data and products
  • Superb organizational skills, decisive priority management, strong teamwork ethic, ability to think locally & execute globally
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Candidates should have at least 3-5 years of experience in the technical product delivery or technology in the financial domain and have a keen interest in the financial markets and business.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills: 

  • Knowledge or experience in fixed income a plus
