At Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions (SMR) we are now looking for an enthusiastic, experienced, and empowering leader to join us as the Operations Director for our DSI Underground Merol production plant in Stalowa Wola, Poland. Midterm perspective is to take succession of the plant managers role.

About the role 

The purpose of this role is to ensure the commercial success of the plant. You will be working in close cooperation with the finance manager and the current plant manager. As part of the global supply chain organization, you will be shaping efficient supply of internal and external customers. The role has significant exposure to regional and global executives. To drive the success, you can count on a team of experts in your controlling, logistics and purchasing departments. Forward-looking, we are searching for a candidate to step up to the role of plant manager in midterm. 

Your responsibilities 

  • Leading, managing and developing employees in the Operations Department 
  • Managing local supply chain (forecasting & production planning, control of inventories) and plant controlling activities (ensuring proper reporting processes for plant and logistics KPI, product costing and pricing, investment payback calculation) 
  • Managing all purchasing activities (direct and indirect materials, ensuring efficient sourcing and proper net working capital levels) 
  • Continuously improving ERP and Supply Chain processes, coordinating projects, being a core interface partner for IT 

Our requirements 

Mandatory: 

  • University degree medium or higher degree in Business Admin, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or adjacent discipline 
  • Min. 7 years of relevant work experience in controlling and / or supply chain role in a production plant environment 
  • Min. 3 years of leadership experience in a managerial position 
  • Good understanding of value and profitability enhancing levers 
  • Very good command of English 
  • Result-driven, hands-on mentality 
  • Continuous improvement DNA 
  • Promoting a development culture; fostering learning and growth environment 

Will be an advantage: 

  • Project Management qualification 
  • Experience in lean manufacturing 
  • Good understanding of EPR Systems (Business Central) 
  • Basic knowledge of business intelligence systems
