Oracle Exadata is the backbone of the Oracle database in the public and private cloud. A large section of the Oracle Public and Private Cloud runs on Exadata. Most of the Oracle Cloud Database services run on Exadata. Most Oracle Cloud Apps also run on Exadata.

Exadata provides the best parallel, distributed platform for the Oracle database. Exadata integrates with the database SQL processing and distributes and parallelizes query processing across all the storage nodes. Exadata provides cloud scale distributed file system; volume management.

Exadata smart software seamlessly plugs with the Oracle database and provides database functionality offloaded to storage. It automatically reformats data and stores it in the best format based on usage patterns. It does resource management on the storage. It manages data across multiple storage hardware tiers and automatically moves them through these layers based on usage patterns.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement core software features in the Oracle Database and Exadata Storage System which will run on large Database and Storage clusters and in and off the cloud.
  • Design and implement parallel, distributed software which is highly scalable, available, fault tolerant in the presence of software and hardware component failures (storage/network).
  • Design and implement features that optimally exploit new evolving hardware technologies in both the server and storage domain.
  • Work in a fast paced, rapidly growing team.

Job Requirements:

  • Distributed systems; parallel computing; Operating systems; Storage; Networking; expertise is a plus.
  • C/C++ expertise is a plus.
  • Masters/PhD in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in a fast paced computer systems development environment
  • Motivation/expertise to debug complex systems problems.
  • Knowledge of computer architecture/internals and database/storage systems is a plus

US: Hiring Range: from $94,200 to $223,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
