Purpose of role

Do you have a magical way with words, adeptly crafting messages that compel people to respond to your calls to action, or that helps your targeted audience understand complex concepts. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Marketing and Design team to develop materials that are effective at visual storytelling.

The ideal candidate will create content and craft copy for marketing and sales programs, while assisting with the development of new initiatives that align with company objectives that target the Consumer & Advisor markets. The successful candidate will work with the broader Marketing team to coordinate and track the status of multiple projects.

To be successful in this role, you must be a creative thinker who has outstanding organizational skills and can manage many diverse projects and meet tight deadlines. You’re a natural storyteller who works well with a creative design team to create visually compelling stories. A wordsmith who can take complex information and transform it into clear, concise, engaging, and digestible content. While you believe that great copywriting and content creation is an art, you also recognize the importance of quality assurance and having accurate data to inform and improve your approach. Not to be forgotten, you have a keen sense of curiosity and thrives as a self-starter.

The Specialist will play an integral role in promoting our two Canadian brands and their respective products - Canada Protection Plan and Foresters Financial – to B2B and B2C audiences across the country. This individual will be joining a dynamic marketing team that offers plenty of opportunity to learn, contribute and grow.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, persuasive copy and content for targeted audiences across various channels. This could include but is not limited to: advertisements, website optimization, marketing collateral, white papers, sales presentations, blogs, articles, product guides, video scripts, corporate letters, and speaking notes. 
  • Collaborate with Design team to enhance our data/ information visualization skills to find the right balance to visually depict complex concepts
  • Ensure that content is not only attention-grabbing, but also work closely with peers, stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure content is carefully researched, fact-checked, and proofread.
  • Facilitate the translation process of the content (various languages including French).
  • Support the digital marketing strategies and SEO initiatives in an effort to generate qualified leads and lower cost per acquisition.
  • Identify audience needs and gaps in our content and recommend new topics.
  • Stay abreast of industry news and trends. Mine for secondary research (combining reputable online sources, interviews, and studies) to inform your content.

General

  • Create or assist the creation of project plans & schedules
  • Draft marketing briefs and work closely with Creative team to produce marketing assets
  • Support the maintenance and day to day management of internal marketing tools, such as project management tool, and intranet sites
  • Effective budget management
  • Identify & implement process improvements accordingly
  • General office duties as required

Knowledge/Experience/Skills:

  • Post-Secondary degree or diploma, preferably in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related work experience required
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of work experience in a copywriting or content management role
  • Self-motivated with strong project management skills & attention to detail
  • Highly collaborative and effectively works with key stakeholders across the company including senior leaders and key clients
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience with social media platforms
  • Experience managing and working with external vendors, agencies & partners
  • Fluency in French is an asset
