About the role

Carrier is looking for a senior data management professional to join our team as Business Enterprise Data Principal Engineering Operations. The Data Principal Engineering Operations will be part of the Carrier Business Services (CBS) Global Master Data Management (MDM) team and will drive the master data improvement strategy and roadmap for Engineering Operations. The role will ensure structural improvements to deliver the highest Master Data quality level to support running efficient end-to-end business processes and allowing for decision making based on trusted data.

The role focuses on the data aspect of Engineering Operations in close collaboration with the people, process, and technology partners. He/She owns, innovates, designs, and drives standardized end to end processes and tools for the maintenance of Engineering Operations Master Data (e.g. Materials, BoM, Recipees, …), delivering improved service quality, optimized cost to serve, controls & compliance, as well as enhancing customer experience. It also supports all Engineering Operations initiatives from a data perspective.

He/She operates in a highly complex systems landscape and within a matrix organization. System complexity includes at least 100+ ERP instances, several other enterprise-level systems, supported by multiple service providers. He/She manages stakeholders’ relationships at all levels across Engineering Operations to drive the strategy and roadmap for high quality Master Data.

Requirements

  • Post-Graduation in Business Administration, Integrated Supply Chain, Engineering, IT or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 10 years’ overall experience with 7-8 years’ experience in process related function and with the Data supporting these processes
  • Strong systems/IT knowledge required (i.e. system configuration knowledge), including experience with their implementation, e.g. SAP, planning and formulation applications
  • Experience in Project Management, with supporting certification preferred
  • Experience in implementation of standardized E2E business processes
  • Experience in interfacing with business operational customers, up to senior management
  • Experience in process and Data improvement, applying root cause analysis
  • Experience in MDM application systems (preferably SAP MDG)
  • Experience in building reports/dashboards using D&A tools (SAC, Azure, Alteryx, SQL, PowerBI)
  • Experience in complex IT system environments
  • Experience in complex business environments
  • Understanding of external factors influencing their processes and Data Domain such as regulatory requirements, best in class practices, etc.
  • Leverages best in class examples, key expert / key stakeholder input to design the appropriate Data foundation
  • Leverages business understanding and its requirements in the design of the Data model and related projects
  • Is recognized as a credible business partner for cross-functional teams and across the different functions.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Carrier MDM team in the implementation of the company-wide Data Policies and Governance Framework
  • Business partner to Engineering Operations to define and deliver their data quality improvements roadmap
  • Champions the value of data as a strategic asset for Engineering Operations
  • Drive the communication on the Master Data Management strategy and roadmap within Engineering Operations
  • Prepare Engineering Operations master data projects (business case, budget, charter, …)
  • Steer on Engineering Operations master data projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget and value realization
  • Defining data standards, cleansing (Get Clean) and monitoring (Dashboard/KPIs) of the Engineering Operations master data (e.g. Materials, BoM, Recipees, …)
  • Development and implementation of controlled, governed, and harmonized data maintenance processes for the Engineering Operations data domains, including their introduction into the CBS operating model, ensuring effective and efficient master data maintenance services
  • Design and support implementation of the required KPIs in the Global MDM Dashboard to monitor data standards compliance
  • The above includes the considerations around the supporting technology and its implementation, as well as the required change management activities
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of a Data Dictionary/Catalogue for the Engineering Operations data domains
  • For the specific data domain, act as IT touchpoint for master data matters including setting up the MDM landscape strategy and driving the demand pipeline for changes and projects support
  • Drive and implement the Data Collection, Storage and Modelling strategy for Engineering Operations
  • Develop documentation and education materials to support business stakeholders and imbed Master Data Management best practices within Engineering Operations
  • Foster a continuous improvement and agile mentality in the delivery of the Engineering Operations Master Data Management roadmap
  • For the relevant data domain, responsible to be the Single Point of Contact and escalation channel for both Data Domain Experts and Master Data Management Operations
  • Continued focus on innovation and standardization to drive down total cost to serve and enhance customer satisfaction through improved quality of processes for the specific data domain
  • Manage an international team of internal Data Domain Experts and external Projects Data Experts
  • Actively Develop and grow Master Data Management talents to set up a highly effective, efficient, and productive Master Data Management team (performance review, feedback, and coaching)
  • Foster communication and teamwork within and across organizational boundaries
  • Build working relationships and foster communication with internal customers within and across organizational and geographic boundaries
  • Manage multiple complex assignments including the ability to plan, assign and direct work in a dynamic environment with changing priorities
