Job Title: Emerging Solutions Lead

Salary: $150,000 - $200,000

From revolutionising billing to smart electric vehicle charging, our real-time cloud platforms transform supplier operations, reducing cost to serve and boosting engagement. And most importantly, they enable suppliers' customers to drive decarbonisation with smart, low carbon technologies.

Kaluza is currently in an exciting growth phase, undergoing the next phase of our international expansion in Melbourne to further reinforce our capabilities as a globally distributed energy platform.

This means that you would be one of the earliest Kaluza employees on the ground in Australia, working directly with our clients in the region. 

We're in the early days of building our team and so in-office presence to us is important - working really closely with our clients to forge a strong working relationship. Our team currently works from our office in Melbourne CBD (Spencer St) 2-3 days per week. 

Our goal is to build a self-sufficient and empowered team here on the ground in Australia. We’re well on our way, but until we get there we still have some reliances on our UK team. Being comfortable working flexibly for a portion of your working week to cover time zones is required. 

Where in the world of Kaluza will I be working? 

We’re all very excited about Kaluza growing presence in the Australian market. One of the key pillars for the expansion in Australia is focused on rolling out and localising our Kaluza Flex solution. 

You will have an opportunity to work with Kaluza Flex product and delivery teams and support bringing innovative DER (distributed energy resource) products to the market including EV smart charging, residential solar and storage optimisation and smart HVAC. 

Following the first phase of our work in Australia being focused on EV smart charging build out and product launch. You will get a chance to work with our clients and Kaluza Product teams to drive further expansion to other DERs and development of solution capabilities with deeper Australian market integrations.

You’ll be working on Kaluza’s Flexibility platform. Designed to be the nervous system connecting energy retailers, grid operators, and consumers, Flex will aid us in creating the distributed, consumer-centric, dynamic energy system of the future. Bridging the gap between distributed renewable generation and smart devices, it helps consumers shift their energy consumption to times when there's more renewable energy. This not only saves them money, but enables society as a whole to meet the challenge of decarbonising transport and residential heating/cooling. We’re also supporting this vital shift by building the innovative technology behind unique, market-leading customer propositions like Vehicle to Grid, Drive Anytime Energy Plan with our energy retailer partners.

What will I be doing?

You will be the ‘on the ground’ Kaluza Flex solution lead to drive forward the DER workstream design, development and launch activities. Key responsibilities for the role include:

  • Working closely with the Delivery Team and Product Leads in the UK to design solutions that meet our local client needs and align with Kaluza’s product direction
  • Being the ‘in the room’ presence to lead conversations around product direction and decision making; supported by the Product Lead
  • Being a Kaluza on the ground expert advisor to the key client stakeholders - shaping and influencing their roadmaps and planned propositions
  • Ensuring the our stakeholders and Kaluza internal teams remain on track and removing any friction around what should be delivered and how
  • Building relationships across key client stakeholders to promote Kaluza’s work and sell our vision
  • Being the key ‘bridge’ back to the core product and delivery teams in the UK
  • Assisting the product teams with any Aus specific knowledge and insights to inform product development
  • Developing a backlog of future client requests that can be federated to various product teams in the future. 

Is this the job for me?

Ideally you’ll have/be

  • Experience in the residential DER and flexibility space (EVs, batteries, solar, home energy management)
  • Experience in working with energy retailers
  • Knowledge of Australian energy market
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex problems and articulate client needs to Product and Tech teams
  • Proactive in driving discussions to reach alignment with the client / searching resolutions to any blockers for delivery and scoping activities
  • Experience/Comfortable working across Australia / UK time zones when needed
