Offering Learning & Development for All is one of Chanel’s commitments. This role serves as a dual Head of both Learning Ecosystem and Retail Learning & Development Asia Pacific. You will ensure:

  • The retail workforce is fit-for future and equipped with the right capabilities and skills
  • A robust learning ecosystem with a clear vision, positioning and offering for the region in alignment with our business stakeholders, HR and learning teams at local, regional and global levels.
  • Overall governance of the Regional L&D function and embed a continuous learning culture within the overall ecosystem.
  • Connect the dots with the L&D skills framework to ensure holistic learning especially for transversal Retail Learning & Development skills

You’ll be part of the Regional Learning & Development team (L&D) who is responsible to identify and build future Retail leadership and core transversal skills and capabilities across the APAC region (does not include product, process, and division-specific trainings) and promote a self-directed and continuous Learning & Development Culture for All across Asia Pacific. You will have 4 direct reports.

The impact you can create at Chanel

1. Build an ambitious Retail Learning & Development strategy and roadmap in close partnership with key stakeholders from the Regional Talent development, Retail, ODHR and Division learning teams.

  • Ensure strategic alignment to overall Retail Vision and plans across 3 Divisions while formulating the Regional Retail L&D strategy for APAC.
  • Adopt top down and bottom-up approaches to understand learning needs across the region.
  • Prioritize strategic initiatives including list of key projects with key stakeholders. Communicate priorities with markets in a timely manner.
  • Build strong relationships with regional Division teams and clarify Roles & Responsibilities.
  • Build learning solutions in line with the transversal Core and Leadership capabilities identified by the Business.
  • Measure the impact of the key initiatives on People and Business.
  • Maintain a healthy panel of external vendors so that learning solutions are best-in-class and delivered on time.
  • Prepare and monitor the annual L&D budget.

2. Drive new strategic interventions like Retail Academy from a Regional L&D perspective to ensure the Retail workforce is fit-for-future.

  • Provide thought leadership for conceptualizing and finalizing the strategy and blueprint for all critical Reginal Retail initiatives that include L&D across the 3 Divisions
  • Ensure necessary resource alignment and support for key deliverables from Regional L&D perspective.
  • Be the strategic partner of senior Retail leaders and regional learning division teams and establish ways of working
  • Have a clear understanding of the eco-system and activate/maximize the value through the collaboration and partnership with divisional retail L&D
  • Identify key strategic and innovative interventions based on emerging People and Business needs and priorities.
  • Partner with the Divisions to deliver and measure the impact of these interventions on People and Business.
  • Ensure the solutions, tools, and resources where applicable can be transversely used across the 3 Divisions of Retail.

3. Establishes robust learning ecosystem with a clear vision, positioning and offering, in terms of technologies and content.

  • Bring to the next level the existing Learning Experience Platform (LXP): ‘Bloom’ and Learning Management System (LMS): ‘Boost’ in terms of adoption and value delivered to learners and to the Business.
  • Ensure the user experience of all office and retail learners is best-in-class.
  • Put in place the right governance and feedback process to ensure the content on the platform is qualitative and relevant to all employees.
  • Defines a clear content strategy and ensures the right external content libraries are integrated into the LXP.
  • Create a positive user experience by ensuring content on Bloom and Boost is aligned with a holistic and integrated skills framework, is intuitive and easy to access.
  • Define the scale up plan and drive Boost’s deployment across markets, functions, and divisions.
  • Define the change management plans to accompany any learning system deployment with each local market: sponsorship roadmap, communication strategy, adoption plan, training plan for learners and learning teams.
  • Create and manage the overall Digital Learning Ecosystem budget for APAC.

4. Establishes the target operating model for the whole digital learning ecosystem, including Bloom, Boost, and external content libraries.

  • Work closely with the markets to understand current practices and find ways to eliminate duplicative and manual practices that can be automated and streamlined,
  • Uses data to provide recommendations in shaping the new operating model.
  • Implements the new model with strong project and change management plans.

5. Defines APAC learning analytics roadmap in collaboration with Global, IT, People Solution to tie up learning, performance, and development metrics.

  • Monitors data and creates regular reports related to platform traffic and adoption, top content consumption, learner behaviors and patterns, activities on learning communities.
  • Develops a clear and well-structured analytical plan to provide insights and recommendations to improve platform traffic, learner engagement, content strategy and learning effectiveness.
  • Influences the Global Roadmap to evolve the functionalities of the learning platforms and its integration in a larger learning ecosystem over time 

6. Create a continuous Learning culture by continuously improving Chanel Guided Learning approach.

  • Orchestrate the Guided Learning approach and its deployment by planning the annual content strategy in collaboration with Leaders and key stakeholders.
  • Identify and deploy engagement plans and activities to increase adoption.
  • Measure in time the learning effectiveness and impact on behaviors
  • Co-ordinate with Markets to ensure timely and effective execution of Guided Learning approach. 

7. Be the Custodian for Regional L&D overall Governance strategy and its execution.

  • Regular update and maintenance of the Regional L&D overall Governance strategy.
  • Ensure regular cadence and stakeholder and team’s alignment to overall L&D Governance.

8. Follow Indirect procurement, data privacy, cyber security guidelines and procedures and ensuring all right stakeholders are involved.

What you can bring to the team

  • Subject matter expertise in learning & development (Retail experience preferred). Proven track record in implementing learning programs and solutions.
  • Experience in managing Digital Learning Ecosystem and Retail L&D with good knowledge including training needs analysis, program development, evaluation, assessment, and development tools, etc.
  • Demonstrate project management experience, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, close attention to detail, and work collaboratively with others.
  • A collaborative mindset and a drive for impact and tangible results. Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Experience of working in a matrixed environment
  • Outside in thinking through industry and external best practices.
  • Excellent communications skills in English, written and oral.
