AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. The AWS Global Support team interacts with leading companies and believes that world-class support is critical to customer success. AWS Support also partners with a global list of customers that are building mission-critical applications on top of AWS services.

As a member of the AWS Support team, you will be at the forefront of cloud technologies and the full breadth of AWS services. You will be surrounded by people that are extremely smart, passionate about cloud computing, and believe that world-class support is critical to customer success. AWS Support provides global technical support to a wide range of external customers as they build mission-critical applications on top of AWS services such as Amazon S3 and Amazon EC2. We have a team of talented engineers located in multiple locations around the world, and are growing rapidly.

Key job responsibilities

AWS has an opening for a Technical Editor who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. In this role, you will advocate for customer experience improvements through content editorial review by relentlessly upholding standards and quality while developing writers. You will be responsible for managing the editorial process for internal and external content, improving both the process and the content experience. As a leader of this space, you will dive deep into the experience from both a product and customer perspective, effectively represent business requirements, and you will manage changes that are associated with ongoing improvements. Stakeholders include knowledge teams, AWS Support, business leaders, and development teams. To succeed, you will have technical and functional acumen as well as a passion for ownership. As a Technical Editor, you own the optimization strategy and are responsible for delivering on projects that support business goals. You collaborate with other teams on shared goals and efforts, and you consistently raise the bar for content, style, and technical quality.

The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and has a strong background in technical writing, editing, and developing training and technical content. You will have experience editing in-depth content for developer or system administrator products, and you will have experience driving consistency and unity across multiple content deliverables. You will have a strong understanding of customer needs and experience advocating on behalf of customers. When working with technical writers, content developers, subject matter experts, and stakeholders, you will use the editorial process to deliver high-quality content and an efficient, end-to-end publishing experience. This role focuses on developmental editing, mentoring and coaching, and evaluating customer-facing and internal content. You will play a significant role in the training and development of a successful and effective writing team.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of developmental and copy-editing experience with highly technical developer or systems administration documentation.
  • 1+ years of developing and upholding editorial standards across teams and domains.
  • 1+ years of coaching and mentoring technical writers.
  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent work or military experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with information architecture.
  • Experience developing and implementing style guides across a multi-contributor team.
  • Experience using data to drive improvements in content quality.
  • Experience with cloud-based technologies and services.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $57,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $137,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
