Accounting Manager

Our client, a Personal Care Product Manufacturing company, is looking for an Accounting Manager to join their growing team, and be responsible for day-to-day financial reporting and the execution of month-end close.

JOB DESCRIPTION: 

The Accounting Manager applies experience and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. 

This position will manage 1 direct report, and will report to the VP, Finance. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in managing the monthly and annual financial statement closing process and review preliminary results for variances, reasonability, etc.
  • Maintain the general ledger. Prepare or review monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts such as AP/AR, payroll, bank reconciliations, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and other accrued expenses. Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled and accurate.
  • Record use tax accruals, interface with TaxConnex on payments, variances, issues, and compliance.
  • Assist with establishing and maintaining corporate accounting policies, procedures and internal controls to ensure conformance with US GAAP and SOX laws/regulations.
  • Oversee all revenue areas, including Target, Amazon, Shopify and Wholesale, ensuring timely receipt of payments and reconciliation of variances.
  • Approve bills in Bill.com and review GL coding.
  • Review accounts payable entries on a weekly basis to identify transactions that need further review, account reclassification, department coding corrections and/or contract/agreement review and documentation.
  • Lead team through daily accounting operations including A/P and A/R.
  • Initiate processes and streamline existing processes for efficiency and to sustain future growth of enterprise.
  • Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions.
  • Contribute to external audits, which may include reviewing workpapers prepared by accountants/others, submitting requests and coordinating to ensure audit timelines are met, and escalating issues as they arise.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • B.S./B.A. in Finance, Accounting or equivalent; MBA a plus.
  • 5 years of experience in Consumer Products or Retail, with public accounting experience required.
  • CPA is a plus with 3 years of audit experience from a global or national CPA firm
  • Experience in a consumer products company or retailer dealing with trade spending a plus
  • Inventory experience a plus
  • Excellent knowledge and application of US GAAP
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in Excel and proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong project management skills
  • Direct experience with Accounting ERP systems (NetSuite or SAP), and Bill.com

COMPENSATION:

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure: $120K-$130K bonus. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
