The Problem We’re Solving

Our mission is to eliminate supply chain waste by creating a digital platform to manage freight and eliminate supply chain waste.

There are 500 million hours wasted in trucking each year, over 3 billion gallons of fuel wasted per year from trucks idling, and 1 in 5 trucks on the road driving empty at any given point. This has a massive impact on the environment, the lives of millions of drivers, and ultimately, the cost of goods that we all pay. Job Description

We are seeking a Backend Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has an unrelenting passion for building products that resonate with users. The successful candidate will help to execute and develop features for both the backend framework and API layer, incorporating our extensive stack which includes Python, Typescript, Postgres, and AWS. Ideal candidates are proactive, experienced problem-solvers with strong development skills in Python or similar languages, and a passion for technology.

Responsibilities

• Use Python to develop and maintain the backend infrastructure of the web application, including designing and implementing scalable, efficient, and secure APIs
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including frontend developers, product managers, and quality assurance engineers, to define API specifications and deliver features on time
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented Python code, utilizing best practices and design patterns, while also conducting code reviews to ensure code quality and consistency
• Troubleshoot and resolve backend issues, performance bottlenecks, and security vulnerabilities, and proactively monitor and optimize the application's performance and scalability to meet user demands

Basic Qualifications

• Backend development experience with Python or other modern programming languages
• Proficient with backend language (python or similar)
• Comprehensive knowledge of modern web architectures
• Ability to build a web app backend with minimal to no support from senior engineers
• SQL/ DB
• Ability to architect a database
• 3+ years experience in software development

Compensation Range: The annual base salary range for this position is $136,000 - $181,000*. Compensation will vary based on factors including skill level, proficiencies, transferable knowledge, and experience. In addition to base salary, Baton's full-time employees are eligible for an annual performance bonus.
