We are seeking a skilled and experienced Life Safety and Security (LSS) Designer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will engage in the designing, developing, and implementing of cutting-edge electrical systems for state-of-the-art industrial and high-tech manufacturing facilities serving global leaders in technology. As a Life Safety and Security (LSS) Designer at SSOE, you will have a foundation in creating designs for life safety systems, including fire detection and suppression systems, emergency evacuation systems, access control systems, intrusion detection systems, and video surveillance systems. Responsibilities

  • Develop innovative and robust designs for life safety systems, including fire detection and suppression systems, emergency evacuation systems, access control systems, intrusion detection systems, and video surveillance systems.
  • Prepare detailed technical specifications, drawings, diagrams, and documentation for life safety and security systems.
  • Work closely with the Lead Engineer, Project Manager, and others from our multi-disciplinary design team to understand project requirements, selection of appropriate equipment and materials that meet project requirements, as well as incorporate life safety and security (LSS) considerations into the overall design process.
  • Ensure that all life safety and security (LSS) designs comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Perform thorough risk assessments of facilities and environments to identify potential hazards, vulnerabilities, and security threats. Utilize your expertise to recommend appropriate safety and security measures based on identified risks.
  • Conduct field inspections, assistance, and quality assurance checks to ensure compliance with design specifications and functional requirements as needed/required.
  • Effectively communicate technical concepts and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Provide training and support to end-users, facility managers, and maintenance personnel on the proper operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of life safety and security systems.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience designing life safety and security systems for commercial, industrial, or institutional facilities.
  • Understanding of the fires alarm, HPM, and security systems and their wiring diagrams.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations related to life safety and security, such as NFPA, UL, and ICC.
  • Proficiency in using industry-standard design software (Revit) and tools for system modeling and documentation.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • NICET certification is a plus.
  • Salary Range: $50,000 - $100,000/year depending on location, education, experience, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
