The Corporate Director of Engineering has a pivotal role in the oversight of Engineering and related activities. With a steadfast commitment to preserving and elevating resort facilities, equipment, and property. Serving as a strategic partner, this visionary leader bridges the gap between individual resorts and corporate leadership, guiding the way forward through the establishment of an efficient workflow strategy and open communication channels.

At the core of this role is the unwavering commitment to drive excellence in engineering performance. This commitment translates into rigorous adherence to OSHA, EPA, and Company policies, ensuring a steadfast dedication to safety and sustainability. This role is also instrumental in fostering financial and operational excellence and is a driving force in propelling us toward new heights of success and innovation.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Operational Excellence & Risk Management (30% of time)

Develop, implement, and ensure adherence to engineering and public area policies, procedures, inspections, schedules, and reporting standards while identifying and mitigating issues, risks, and barriers.

Direct and support resort engineering teams to maintain facilities, equipment, and properties safely and effectively within operational and budgetary constraints.

Develop strategies and plans to drive innovation, process improvements and functional excellence.

Conduct semi-annual regional property/facility walks to assess the integrity of our assets across the portfolio.

Collaborative Partnerships (20% of time)

Provide technical leadership to all engineering and development areas to facilitate technical decision-making with an emphasis on maintainability, scalability, and performance.

Collaborate with ESG team to drive greening and sustainability initiatives and establish key resort operations targets that align with the enterprise goal.

Collaborate with Health & Safety corporate leadership team to enforce policies for regulatory requirements regarding hazardous materials and equipment.

Conduct quarterly global engineering calls to share operational updates, review key engineering initiatives, ongoing projects, best practices, review preventive measures and risk mitigation plans.

Project Management (20% of time)

Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to define project scope, costs, and schedules in alignment with shared objectives.

Implement industry-leading project management methodologies and best practices to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.

Develop and execute a comprehensive capital project management strategy aligned with organizational goals.

Support RR&D projects, HOA Reserve Studies review, and update processes.

Proactively identify and mitigate project risks, addressing challenges and obstacles to secure successful project outcomes.

Vendor Management (15% of time)

Partner with Strategic Sourcing in vetting key vendors and MSA agreements specific to maintenance contracts and terms and support of our diversity suppliers’ program.

Lead negotiations for equipment and contracts and manage budgeting, bidding, and contract preparation.

Ensure vendors provide necessary reports to support the analysis and decision-making capabilities of the operation.

Engineering Advisory Council (15% of time)

Develop and maintain a strong alliance with the Engineering Advisory Council

Collaborate with council in driving engineering initiatives that tangibly support our operational efficiencies.

Identify and support the development of training programs to support the effectiveness and compliance of resort staff.

Travel Requirements

As a corporate Engineering director you would be required to travel 25%-50% depending on the specifc demands and operational footpring. This position will be key to manage and oversee certain engineering projects, meet with stakeholders, contractors and ensure strategic alignment across different resort locations

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications

State the specific levels of the following that are needed to perform the minimum duties of the job.

Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline preferred.

Training requirements

CPO, CPR, OSHA, EPA certification.

HVAC, electrical, plumbing certifications preferred.

Knowledge and skills

Strong understanding of trades (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC).

Proficient in budgeting, scheduling, and communication.

Excellent negotiation and organizational skills.

Have proven strong leadership ability; demonstrate understanding and application of management approaches for work direction, motivation, performance management and disciplinary action.

Demonstrate the highest level of customer service to current and prospective owners to maintain a positive brand image and company reputation.

Effective communication of expectations and follow-up.

Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner. Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.

Develops project plans; Coordinates projects; Communicates changes and progress; Completes projects on time and budget; Manages project team activities.

Understands business implications of decisions; Displays orientation to profitability; Aligns work with strategic goals.

Strong contractor and vendor negotiation skills.

Possess innate analytical ability to grasp numbers and understand their impact (e.g., demonstrated ability to work under pressure, or possesses good written and oral communication skills).

Ability to ensure administrative functions and duties are assigned and completed according to T+L standards, including timekeeping, vendor contracts, and personnel action forms.

Create a positive work environment by maintaining the highest level of ethics and integrity consistent with applicable regulatory standards and T+L Values

Ability to prioritize and plan work activities; Uses time efficiently; Plans for additional resources; Sets goals and objectives; Organizes or schedules other people and their tasks; Develops realistic action plans.

Technical Skills

Proficiency in WYNSOS, ISM, or similar maintenance systems.

Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Hostsos.

Job experience

Minimum of 10 years of related work experience

6 years of supervisory or management responsibility

Strong Knowledge in mechanical fields such as HVAC, Electrical, plumbing

Experience and knowledgeable in power tools, elevators, pool pumps, sewer systems, reading blueprints, fire codes/protection, and filtration systems.

ISM Knowledge

Knowledge of ADA requirements.

Experience equivalent to the education requirement may be accepted in lieu of the education requirement.
