This is an exciting time at Enovix! We are looking for experienced candidates to help support our new lithium-ion battery production facility in Penang, Malaysia for commercialization of our 3D Silicon™ Lithium-ion Rechargeable Battery.

Job Summary:

  • The Failure Analysis & Cell Characterization Engineer will be primarily focused on material and performance characterization of Enovix cells. Broadly, the engineer in this position will drive failure analysis, materials characterization, safety certification, and reliability testing of Enovix product. They will be responsible for interpreting and summarizing these test results. The successful candidate will have strong experience with material characterization techniques such as XRM, SEM-EDX, GC-MS, ICP-MS, and ATR-FTIR, and be able to both select the appropriate analysis technique for a given task and interpret the resulting data. 

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain equipment, ensuring proper calibration and performance.
  • Work closely with cross-functional and global team to execute product reliability, safety, cell characterization and failure analysis activities.
  • Understand test intent and define analysis approach.
  • Coordinate activities with technicians, engineers, and external resources to drive test requests to closure.
  • Maintain and manage Lab equipment’s spare parts, fixtures and periodical replenishment
  • Able to prioritize multiple high priority tasks at the same time
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment, following all safety protocols and procedures in compliance with 6S Housekeeping.
  • Review results for accuracy and compliance to procedure or test specifications.
  • Interpret and summarize results. 

Qualifications:

  • Degree, Masters or PhD in technical field (e.g. Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Physics, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering).
  • 2+ years of industry experience.
  • Experience with using leading-edge battery and/or semiconductor technology material characterization techniques to drive failure analysis, understand degradation mechanisms, or improve yield.
  • Experience working with cell and battery technology strongly preferred.
  • Experience with non-destructive and destructive failure analysis of batteries
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues with testing and creatively resolve unforeseen problems.
  • Able to effectively work in a matrix environment and interface productively with counterparts at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain data driven technical decisions
  • Strong organizational, problem solving. analytical skills, and high attention to detail
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis, including control charts, failure rates and risk analysis, and ANOVA is a plus
