What the role entails:
- Acquire, clean, preprocess, and transform large datasets from various disparate sources and ensure accuracy and completeness using tools like Python (Jupyter), SQL, and SAS to prepare data for analysis.
- Collaborate with client program leads, data engineers and IT professionals to understand and utilize data pipelines.
- Apply exploratory data analysis (EDA) techniques to identify outliers and anomalies, interpret trends, patterns, and relationships within the data.
- Create visualizations and dashboards to make it easier to understand using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Qlik or other relevant platforms. Communicate insights effectively and efficiently so the visualizations tell a compelling story.
- Design clear and concise reports (both regular and ad hoc) that enable stakeholders to understand complex data findings, make decisions, and inform business strategies. Must be an expert in Microsoft Excel to meet client requirements.
- Work closely and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including client program leads, legal and tax domain SMEs, and business leaders to understand and define data issues and business needs.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data analytics as relates to the domain of Eastport clients.
Who you are:
- Completed Bachelor's in Business Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a relevant discipline. Proven experience as a Data Analyst in another role (a portfolio, GitHub, etc.).
- Excels at analyzing data and visualizing it to make it meaningful for the stakeholders.
- Has proficiency in DBA macros, building your own tools and has basic programming languages such as Python, SQL, or SAS.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with strong ability to surface/transform insights.
- Thrives in a client driven and collaborative environment.
- Self-starter, creative thinker, takes initiative, has a can-do attitude.
- Strong experience with data visualization tools (i.e. Tableau, Power BI) using them to tell a clear compelling story.
- Excellent communication skills to convey complex findings from technical stakeholders to non-technical stakeholders (and vice versa, acting as almost a bridge).
- Detail-oriented with a focus on data accuracy, quality, integrity, and completeness.
- Understanding of database management systems (i.e. MySQL, PostgreSQL).
- Thrives in a client driven and collaborative environment.
- Self-starter, creative thinker, takes initiative, has a can-do attitude.
- Proactive learner (i.e. through training sessions and conferences) who is always enhancing skills and knowledge.
- Ability to successfully pass a background investigation to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance. The requirements are either US Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident (LPR) status with at least three consecutive years of U.S. residency, from the date of legal entry, as an LPR.
- Able to work during core client hours on Eastern standard time with interest and ability to attend quarterly meetings in Washington, DC vicinity.
- Proven successful experience working in a remote collaborative professional work environment.
As an ideal candidate, you will have:
- Three to five years professional related experience as a data analyst.
- Understanding of cloud analytics platforms (i.e. AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Knowledge of big data technologies (e.g., Apache, Spark).
- Certification in data analysis or Master’s in data analytics or in data science.
- Machine learning skills.
- Local residency in MD/DC/VA area.
- Experience with government contracting (Treasury) and/or federal financial regulatory environment.
