To construct, install, repair high and low voltage systems, on new, and/or remodel construction projects by reading and interpreting blue prints, layouts, diagrams, work orders and schematics. To assist other multi craft construction technicians, as needed to, complete any assigned tasks, outside of their specialty trade. Meet, and interact with Inspectors, for progressive inspections on permitted projects.

Supplemental: Incumbent may receive additional compensation, for other construction trades they are certified, or licensed in, other than the required licensure, for any given trade.

  • Reads and interprets sketches and blue prints to be used in the planning and layout of construction of a variety of electrical components and systems.
  • Responds to emergency calls, troubleshooting, repairs and restorations as needed.
  • Operates a variety of vehicles to transport materials to various job sites and loads supplies as needed.
  • Determines supplies needed from work orders and job site assessment and obtains materials from warehouse.
  • Obtains and reviews written and verbal work orders and requests from immediate supervisor.
  • Ensures appropriate site-based personnel review and sign work orders upon arrival and departure.
  • Cleans work site properly after the completion of duties.
  • Performs work following all applicable laws, codes and regulations.
  • Estimates costs and material needs for all jobs.
  • Performs necessary preparations and installations to create interfaces with new and existing work.
  • Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable workmanship, consistent with specifications.
  • Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blue prints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings and flooring.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects.
  • Knowledge of installation, maintenance, modification and repair of high and low voltage systems and equipment.
  • Ability to work extended hours as requested by supervisor and in accordance to CWA agreement.
  • Proficiency in the use of testing equipment and other hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints and schematic drawings.
  • Knowledge of all applicable codes, regulations and laws.
  • Four years of experience in electrical related field.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid New Mexico Journeyman Electrical License.
  • Satisfactory completion of pre-employment physical examination
  • Satisfactory completion of pre-employment skills test.
  • Valid New Mexico driver’s license with insurable driving record
  • Four years of experience in electrical related field.
