Overview

We are seeking a Senior Cisco Voice Engineer! In this role you will provide input and recommendations towards system design and support short- and long-term roadmap initiatives. This role will serve as the Primary Engineer for implementation of solutions that are designed to serve as a system standard and will work closely with the Cisco Voice Architect to ensure technical

adherence to industry best practices.

This position is open to remote/work from home with strong preference for candidates residing within the UPH geographies of Iowa, Illinois, & Wisconsin (will have some on-site projects).

Responsibilities

Voice Engineering

  • Provide input and recommendations towards Cisco voice strategy and roadmap development.
  • Drive implementation of new or existing solutions according to approved designs
  • Serve as a technical escalation resource during system downtimes or when addressing advanced
  • technical issues
  • Identify optimization opportunities and drive service improvements leveraging root-cause analysis
  • Act as a peer reviewer for high or medium impact changes
  • Assist Cisco Voice Architect with research on emerging voice technologies in support of
  • infrastructure development efforts and recommend technologies that will increase cost
  • effectiveness and infrastructure stability and flexibility.
  • Develop test procedures and validate features and functionality for system upgrades and changes
  • Act as a subject matter expect for select applications within the Cisco Voice solution suite.
  • Work collaboratively with IT Peer groups to ensure voice roadmaps and designs are consistent
  • with supporting technologies standards
  • Track and validate life-cycle management processes and present-day software licensing to ensure
  • software/hardware are within acceptable versions set by vendor EOL deadlines, and make sure
  • appropriate devices are covered by vendor support

Technical Lead/Issue Resolution

  • Act and participate as a technical lead in the implementation of new solutions, product upgrades,
  • or high to medium impact changes
  • Act as technical resource for all escalated system issues in areas of expertise
  • Serve as primary engineer for voice projects across the enterprise system
  • Review and provide peer review input to Cisco Voice related changes across the enterprise

Qualifications

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications or Networking or equivalent work experience (CCNA collaboration, CCNP Collaboration preferred.) 

Exprerience:

  • 5+ years’ experience with Cisco Voice; (CUCM, CUC, UCCX, UCCE). Experience with Cisco SME, Call Recording solutions, and functional knowledge of SIP, MGCP, SCCP, and other voice related protocols.
  • Experience with designing/ maintaining an enterprise dial-plan
  • Experience with maintaining centralized voice solutions for enterprise sized deployments

Preferred:

  • 5+ years’ experience with Cisco Voice; (CUCM, CUC, UCCX, UCCE).
  • 2-4 years’ experience with SME in an enterprise sized Cisco voice environment. 

Licenses/Certifications: 

  • Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Possesses excellent writing and verbal communications. Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language. Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Ability to work as a team member, creating and maintaining effective working relationships. Requires highly developed communications and negotiation skills to effectively work with all levels of management throughout the UnityPoint Health, its subsidiaries and affiliates. Capable of resolving uncertainty and setting direction Able to negotiate and set priorities.
