Mactores is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Database Migration Engineer (Administrator) to lead and execute the migration project from Oracle to PostgreSQL Migration. The ideal candidate will lead hands-on execution of migrating database tables, schema, and data from Oracle to PostgreSQL Migration. The candidate will also be responsible for performing DBA tasks on the PostgreSQL database post-migration.

What you will do?

  • Migrate databases from Oracle to PostgreSQL, focusing on tables, schema, and data migration (one-time and ongoing changes) 
  • Actively participate in the hands-on execution of the migration process, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and minimal downtime.
  • Undertake Database Administration tasks on the PostgreSQL database post-migration, including performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, database administrators, and project managers, to ensure a coordinated and successful migration.
  • Create comprehensive documentation for the migration process, including procedures, guidelines, and best practices. Maintain documentation for post-migration DBA tasks.
  • Identify and implement performance optimization strategies for the PostgreSQL database, ensuring responsiveness and reliability.

What are we looking for?

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience as a Database Migration Engineer (Administrator) with a focus on Oracle to PostgreSQL migration projects.
  • Extensive expertise in MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL database management, including migration tools, techniques, and best practices.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, database design, performance tuning, and optimization.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail and a results-driven mindset.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

The Path to Joining the Mactores Team

Pre-Employment Assessment:
