The Human Resources Strategic Initiatives Project Manager III assesses and leads projects and process improvements for HR services that support growth and enable HR to operate at a highly efficient level.

Reporting to the Strategic Initiatives Director, this position will partner with HR functional leaders, Institute leaders, faculty, and staff to provide project management leadership/support on the implementation of a variety of people, process and/or technology initiatives to improve HR services.

The Project Manager must have the ability to work onsite when project needs require.

Responsibilities

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge of HR processes and functions.
  • Strong knowledge of Smartsheet, Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint), and Visio
  • Strong planning, strategy, project management, , analytic and organizational skills, with the demonstrated ability to drive multiple concurrent projects to completion in a complex, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, as well as the ability to work closely and effectively with all levels of the organization; Politically savvy and able to balance multiple agendas and demands.
  • Ability to manage uncertainty and ambiguity, flexible with changes in prioritization and approach.
  • Demonstrates self-awareness, strong professionalism, a strong work ethic and the ability to handle difficult situations effectively and efficiently.
  • Advanced communication, customer-service, and leadership skills.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently on new and existing projects.
  • Ability to measure and evaluate program/project outcomes against planned goals. 

Project Management

  • Develops and defines project infrastructure (governance, work plans, timelines, resources, milestones, KPI’s etc.).
  • Develops clear and effective meeting materials, presentations, and project documentation.
  • Manages deliverables and project execution activities from the initiation phase through post-live support, including needs assessment, build, implementation, analytics, innovation, maintenance, and enhancements.
  • Identifies and mitigates potential risks and issues.
  • Leads meetings and manages communication with project teams to ensure milestones are met, stakeholders are informed, teams are aligned, and priorities are clear.
  • Collaborates and regularly communicates with stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with change management best practices and ability to incorporate in project plans
  • Works collaboratively with cross-functional teams to inform planning processes.
  • Fosters an environment of trust, collaboration, and accountability across both project and departmental teams.
  • Ensures transfer of knowledge and responsibilities to owning operational areas prior to close-out of projects.

Process Improvement

  • Develops process maps/workflows from conducting current state process analysis to developing redesigned processes.
  • Optimizes or redesigns process flows to meet project requirements.
  • Works with management to define the short and long-term objectives and potential gains.
  • Works with business managers to identify opportunities for process improvements. Establishes baseline metrics for “to” and “from” comparison.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in project management, process improvement (LEAN, Agile, Six Sigma), and business strategy execution. Experience within Human Resources and/or healthcare and patient-centric organizations, particularly in an academic/research environment preferred.
  • Project Management Certification (PMP) preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Project/Process improvement or extensive experience in academia, research, or healthcare may substitute for degree
