The Director of Admissions is responsible for recruiting qualified students to Northwestern University in Qatar’s four-year undergraduate programs in communication and journalism. The Director manages all aspects of the Qatar Campus admissions cycle relating to the selection and enrollment of NU-Q’s incoming class. This position reports to the Assistant Dean for Student Experience. 

  • Direct and implement recruitment strategies in accordance with NU-Q’s mission.
  • Develop admissions materials and other media (catalogs, applications, web resources) appropriate to NU-Q’s recruitment strategies, and within university brand management guidelines.
  • Oversee and manage the admissions budget. 
  • Manage the collection of data related to admissions recruiting and matriculation activities and make data-driven admissions recommendations with the use of the university’s CRM system. 
  • Work with SLATE to manage the recruitment and admission of students throughout the admissions cycle. Capture, measure, and report performance metrics related to recruiting events, applications, application advertising, and future new student enrollments.
  • Represent the institution and department internally and externally via written materials and presentations. 
  • Network and cultivate relationships with secondary schools and educational organizations across the Middle East and beyond. 
  • Hold formal presentations both on/off campus, conducting on/off campus interviews with prospective students.
  • Initiate new programs and procedures that increase the selectivity and efficiency of the admissions process.
  • Manage admissions office operations and staff activities.
  • Communicate with NU – home campus personnel as appropriate.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications & Competencies

  • A master's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
  • Five or more years’ experience, preferably in selective admissions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, reading, and public speaking skills.

Preferred Qualifications & Competencies

  • Familiarity and background working with students from the Middle East.
  • Working knowledge of education systems of countries throughout the Middle East and neighboring regions; experience onboarding international students.

This position's target minimum starting salary is $95,580. Offers will be based on candidate experience, education & equity within Northwestern.
