Job Title: Energy Manager for EMCOR at Stanford Health Care (SHC) in the San Francisco Bay area, CA.

Job Summary: EMCOR Facilities Services (EFS) has an immediate need for an Energy Manager on the Stanford Medicine project in the San Francisco Bay Area. This individual requires a strong technical background and a proven track record for working closely with customers in a partnering manner regarding Energy Management. The position revolves around the management of 150+ clinics and administrative buildings with roughly 3.6 million square feet throughout the Bay Area. The position is responsible for reducing the current annual $8.4 million dollar energy cost by a minimum of 3% annually with new technology and conservation with the management and support of site energy and water conservation programs. The position will serve as the project subject matter expert in energy management and work with the team to achieve energy reduction goals with customers’ requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Reduce utility expenses by at least 3% per year.
  • Possesses general understanding in areas of Energy Management and Control Systems (EMCS) / HVAC mechanical systems and system design. Able to read and comprehend mechanical plans and control drawings.
  • Able to analyze and implement energy conservation programs.
  • Review and recommend maintenance supply and equipment purchases to ensure energy efficient replacements are being specified.
  • Tracks, analyzes, and reports consumption and cost for clinics and administrative buildings, usage irregularities, and reports the impact of implemented energy programs. Makes recommendations to increase efficiency ratings and support cost savings.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains database systems for energy consumption and other data.
  • Assist the maintenance team in evaluating HVAC and high energy consumption equipment maintenance to ensure effectiveness. This includes developing training and / or improvement plans to ensure the best operation in the area of HVAC and high energy consumption equipment maintenance.
  • Manages energy modeling process for existing buildings. Provides energy trend data analysis for systems, buildings, and campuses.
  • Supports various energy projects as needed. Participates in project design and implementation to improve energy efficiency.
  • Identifies energy-saving projects through discussions with customers and contractors, and reviews available information.
  • Generates technically sound spreadsheets and performs detailed energy efficiency calculations.
  • Writes clear and concise technical reports, accurately describing energy efficiency opportunities and allowing business executives to understand how their energy dollars are most effectively invested.
  • Conducts site visits and analyzes facilities, HVAC, refrigeration, and blueprints to audit existing energy infrastructure.
  • Maintains awareness of new and emerging technologies.
  • Ensure that energy management operations are supportive of customer goals.
  • Work with the Stanford Health Care Sustainability Program Office to recommend sound policies directed toward energy conservation.
  • Develop long-range plans for implementing innovations.
  • Compile utility and energy conservation measure cost estimates based on documented program needs.
  • Partner with the Project Management Office on all facilities design and construction activities as relates to energy management.
  • Analyzes proposed LEED projects for compliance and direction.

Qualifications:

  • Job Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering such as electrical, mechanical, or related engineering field. Master's Degree Related to Engineering field Preferred.
  • 5 years Progressively responsible directly related work experience Required.
  • Experience creating, evaluating, and awarding RFPs.
  • Understanding of the drivers to decarbonize the energy footprint of buildings.
  • Experienced in Retro-commissioning HVAC systems.
  • Experience in working in a Medical Facilities environment a plus.
  • Familiarity with Title 24 regulations
  • Proven ability to track and manage budgets.
  • Experienced in determining payback and financial savings on energy projects (ROI, Life Cycle Analysis, etc.)
  • Fluency in reading MEP drawings
  • Effective leadership of cross-functional teams
  • Analytical capabilities to perform and validate energy-saving calculations.
  • Relationship-building skills to liaise with utility providers regarding rebate & incentive programs
  • Project management skills, including all aspects of planning, scoping, budgeting, scheduling, deciding technical approach, ensuring technical quality, tracking, and ensuring stated expectations are met
  • Technical report development skills including summarizing project scope, calculation methodologies, key assumptions, and recommendations.
  • Established discipline to keep managers aware of project schedules and progress and providing regular time charging / budget updates as requested.
  • Aptitude for presenting to groups and facilitating effective discussions that encourage sharing of ideas.
  • Passion for staying informed about energy issues and industry trends through regular technical reading and participation in local and national professional organizations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, maturity, credibility, confidence, and integrity
  • Collaborative with a strong focus on teamwork
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • CEM - Certified Energy Manager Certification preferred.
  • LEED Certified

Compensation Range: $140,000 - $180,000
