Jacobs is seeking for a ETL Developer SME to support its federal client in Northern VA. The ideal candidate will:

  • Design, develop, build, analyze, evaluate and install database management systems to include database modeling and design, relational database architecture, metadata and repository creation and configuration management. 
  • Use data mapping, data mining and data transformational analysis tools to design and develop databases.
  • Determine data storage and optimum storage requirements.
  • Prepare system requirements, source analysis and process analyses and design throughout the database implementation.
  • Evaluate, size and select technology components, such as software, hardware, and networking capabilities, for database management systems and application databases. 
  • Write and tune SQL queries for performance and scalability.
  • Implement comprehensive backup and database replication solutions.

ETL Design and Development:

  • Design, develop, and implement robust ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources into our data warehouse.
  • Utilize industry-leading tools such as Pentaho Data Integration to create efficient and scalable data integration solutions.

Data Modeling and Optimization:

  • Collaborate with data architects to design and optimize data models in our [Database Technology, e.g., MariaDB].
  • Ensure the performance and efficiency of database queries and transformations.

Quality Assurance and Performance Tuning:

  • Implement thorough data quality checks to maintain high standards of data accuracy and integrity.
  • Identify and address performance bottlenecks in ETL processes for optimal efficiency.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including data scientists, business analysts, and application developers to understand data requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders, providing updates on ETL development progress.

Automation and Scalability:

  • Set up and schedule ETL jobs for automated execution, ensuring timely and accurate data processing.
  • Develop scalable and flexible solutions to accommodate future business growth.

Error Handling and Logging:

  • Implement robust error handling mechanisms to capture and log errors during the ETL process.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data integration jobs to ensure successful execution.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field with minimum ten years relevant experience.
  • Proven experience as an ETL Developer with expertise in tools such as Pentaho Data Integration.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases, preferably MariaDB.
  • Knowledge of data modeling, optimization, and database design principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and best practices.
