Overview

Machine Shop Inspector (EPFAB-2024-20207):

Bowhead is seeking a Machine Shop Inspector to support the Engineering/Prototype shop at NSWCDD(Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division).

Bowhead Offers:

  • Engineering Technician III pays $28.79 per hour plus an additional $4.57 per hour for H&W (Health and Welfare)
  • 33 paid days off per year (detailed below).

Responsibilities

The Machine Shop Inspector must have extensive CMM programming/operating experience and a full understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). They must be able to explain the results of an inspection, advise machinists on ways of correcting errors, and write reports. Candidates need to be proficient with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) and be able to accurately use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.

Faro arm experience and previous machining experience are desired.

Qualifications

  • Must have a High School Diploma.
  • Must have at least five (5) years of professional technical experience programming/operating CMMs. (School/training may be considered as experience)
  • Proficient in creating drawings and models using CAD software. SolidWorks will be considered a bonus during position selection.
  • Intermediate-level skills in Microsoft Office software - Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Proficient at reading and interpreting Department of Defense drawings including GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.)
  • Fully capable of using precision measuring tools such as dial calipers, height gauges, and micrometers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, customers, and management and respond to instructions/assignments.
  • Must be able to perform inspection duties with little to no supervision.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds, stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time, and be able to twist, bend, and squat periodically.

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location. If you possess these skills please join our Bowhead team as we work side by side with the United States Navy on mission critical projects in this very interesting prototype atmosphere.
