The Role
Cognizant Technology Modernization is changing the game in Data, Cloud and Generative AI based consultancy services. Tech Modernization is almost like a boutique consultancy inside of Cognizant that creates change in how technology is used and fosters an innovative engineering culture.

We’re looking for a Senior Manager, Cognizant Consulting who can deliver within Cognizant’s Five Pillars of Consulting Excellence, which are: 1) Project Execution, 2) Expertise, 3) Business Development, 4) Practice Development, & 5) People Development. As the Senior Manager, this means overseeing advisory consulting engagements, being a trusted advisor to clients, establishing oneself as a thought leader in your field, solving complex problems, consultatively working with a client to achieve business goals, driving contributions to offerings and innovations, and serving as a people leader, guiding multiple teams as they work to transform a client and the world. Responsibilities
- Serve as the Engagement Lead and manage teams of Consultants, Senior Consultants, and Managers for one or more commercial projects to ensure effective negotiations, well-aligned solution-delivery-to-plan, clear engagement governance accountabilities, profitability, and overall client satisfaction
- Enrich client partnering and anticipate client needs based on a solid understanding of emerging industry requirements and/or technological breakthroughs in Tech Modernization.
- Ensures the appropriate alignment and collaboration of consulting teams and individuals to support project requirements and activities in the focus area and within larger Cognizant and client ecosystems;
- Serve as a people leader, supporting the recruitment, onboarding, upskilling, and mentorship of your colleagues in Consulting; participate in people development and community-building activities
- Guide development, provide feedback, and conduct performance reviews;
- Advocate for and establish appropriate recognition for Consulting within projects, and negotiate applicable consultant rates in project sizing that correspond to the value Consultants contribute to engagements;
- Develop and manage the capture, communication, and sharing of intellectual property (IP) and project artifacts for a focus area, domain area, or practice management area;
- Exercise leadership in the development of Consulting service offerings;
- Leverage collegial networks across Cognizant (e.g., sales, service line community, offshore delivery) and externs partners to innovate solutioning or resolve issues; and
- Support and contribute to the establishment of thought leadership in the industry, to promote Cognizant’s brand and to drive additional opportunities for Cognizant.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience working within a DevOps environment with expertise in infrastructure-as-code and understanding of software/application development
- 5+ years expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCE, OpenStack, VMWare, etc.) and Linux/Windows operating systems
- Experience with Hands-on design and implementation work to get projects off the ground, determine solutions and drive improvements to existing infrastructure at client sites.
- Acts as the Engagement Lead and manages teams of Consultants, Senior Consultants, and Senior Consulting Managers for one or more commercial projects to ensure effective negotiations, well-aligned solution-delivery-to-plan, clear engagement governance accountabilities, profitability, and overall client satisfaction
- Experience building CI/CD Pipelines
- Experience with configuration management (Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Salt) and infrastructure provisioning tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Chef Provisioning)
- Experience with AWS, Docker containers and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Mesosphere, OpenShift, etc.)
- Experience mentoring, coaching, and/or leading a team and able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
- Reviews project deliverables across workstreams from the perspective of QA, requirements alignment, and solution integration
- Works directly with clients as an engagement lead to validate and leverage project success as the basis both for reinforcing positive client relationships and stimulating pull-through or repeat business
- Experience working in client facing roles interacting with key stake holders to lead the engagement, and manage the team and all expected outcomes.
- Deep understanding of the DevOps philosophy and Agile methods
- Automating traditional processes with scripting or configuration management
- Ability to diagnose technical problems, debug code, and automate routine tasks
- Experience of the full software delivery lifecycle
- Experience with cost or financial based projects
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment at different client sites
- Consulting experience highly preferred
- Any FinOps or FinOps Certifications is a plus

- Currently we are operating in remote and hybrid environments and will be for the foreseeable future. please note that this role requires up to 10% domestic travel. This role will not require relocation and you can be based anywhere in the US.

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $95,500 - $214,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
