Title: Principal Software Engineer

The Oracle Cerner Database Infrastructure team within OHAI is currently searching for skilled Software Engineers to join our dynamic team. The role primarily focuses on database automation and the design, development, and implementation of reports and dashboards to meet business requirements and enhance data visualization capabilities. As a Principal Software Engineer specializing in database automation, the ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automation processes that streamline and improve our database operations, addressing sophisticated problems in the DB Modernization efforts. Your expertise in scripting, coding, and database technologies will be instrumental in optimizing our database management processes for scalability and efficiency. You also use technologies such as Ruby, Terraform, and Kubernetes to develop reliable and easy-to-use deployment systems.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree/master’s degree (Information Technology/Mathematics/Computer Science/Computer Software/Electronics/Operational Research/Computer System Engineering).
  • 8+ years of experience in scripting languages such as Python, Shell.
  • 8+ years of experience in SQL/PLSQL.
  • Experience in Database Automation.
  • Experience using distributed source code management systems such as Git.
  • Strong understanding of Database Concepts and Linux systems.
  • Proficiency in Software Development Process (SDLC) practices and methodologies.
  • demonstrated ability in software engineering practice and IT operations tasks. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills. 
  • Experience in Oracle Cloud infrastructure services and Concepts. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with several of the following technologies: Puppet, Chef, Helm, Terraform, Infrastructure-as-a Service ,CI/CD.
  • Experience in Designing, developing, and implementing reports and dashboards to meet business requirements.
  • Strong great teammate with outstanding communication, organization, and social skills.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Experience using ticket tracking systems such as JIRA Experience working with geographically distributed teams. 
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in our Database Infrastructure team. This position is based in India and presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the improvement of healthcare services within a multifaceted multi-tenant cloud environment. As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in achieving our mission to improve healthcare services. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional teams to gain a comprehensive understanding of database automation requisites. 
  • Develop scripts, tools, and apps for automating database tasks like provisioning, monitoring, and backup, Database Alarms etc.
  • Work closely with Database Administrators to capture insights and requirements, translating them into efficient and robust automation workflows.
  • Chip in substantively to the documentation of automation workflows, scripts, and processes, enabling seamless knowledge sharing and continuity.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to database automation and DevOps.
  • Adhere to Software Creation Process (SDLC) standard methodologies, including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Chip in to roadmap project by identifying areas of need from the DBA teams and engaging with collaborators to scope work and identify timelines.
  • Design, development, and implementation of reports and dashboards to meet business requirements and enhance data visualization capabilities.
  • Work collaboratively with multiple teams, actively participating in the execution of roadmap projects.
  • Chip in to the growth of the team by mentoring new associates, and facilitating knowledge transfer and team development.
