About Business line/Function:

ALMT function is responsible for Asset Liabilities management and treasury activity of BNP Paribas. It also handles Bank’s funding needs and risk management activities. ALMT IT is a Deal Capture & Deal Processing Application catering to IT demands of ALMT functions within the bank.

OMR is a settlement application used to handle the settlement and associated functionality of local booking within ALMT world in BNP Paribas. OMR IT team supports the above functionality through customizations on the vendor product OMR, design and development of interfaces that communicate with other applications as part of the settlement lifecycle and also through a set of Business Objects reports that provide insights and necessary control for the Operations and Business

Position Purpose

Current position is under ALMT IT OMR Team scope to contribute in individual capacity on supporting non-prod environment setups and maintenance. The individual must be particularly well versed in maintaining and supporting complex application systems by following accepted best practices for high availability. The person should be an innovative, highly skilled individual who can add value to the IT community at a practical level and work with developers, infrastructure staff, APS and technical architects

Responsibilities

Direct Responsibilities

The role of the Environment & DevOps Analyst within the organization is to understand the design of environments and execute the activities necessary to the delivery of the environments. They will be involved in the understanding the processes and toolsets to setup, monitor non-prod environments, troubleshoot environment related issues, automate non prod management tasks through use of available CI/CD tools and scripts, share environment status reports as required.

Contributing Responsibilities

  • Understanding the non prod environment infrastructure and application components
  • Help understand all technical aspects of non-prod environment setup and various components of the application including the setups needed for filesystem, MQ, Oracle DB, Linux, inhouse application components Implementing the environments for each application with associated configuration items and interfaces (provisioning of infrastructure and database, deployment of software, installing/refreshing data, setting up the interfaces, setting up the required access rights)
  • Work closely with the environment manager to understand the needs of the project teams and plan and setup the environments as per the criteria requested. Environment Build and Setup would include the hardware, software, integrations and data required to support the environment setup
  • Help assist with application patches to be deployed on one or more environments as necessary
  • Run application batch cycles as necessary and requested for the environment setup
  • Assist in the setup and maintenance of DevSecOps pipeline for all components of the non prod environment setup.Should have basic knowledge on CI/CD tools like Jenkins, artifactory, autosys, cyberark
  • Should be able to automate all components of the non-prod environment setup with the help of the CI/CD tools and if necessary, through customized shell scripting
  • Coordinate with Infrastructure and Application teams to resolve environment issues and fulfil requests to provide a stable working non-prod environment in accordance with the requirements.
  • Perform housekeeping and regular maintenance activity on the non-prod environments. Improve efficiency in doing so through automation in the maintenance activities
  • Understanding the tools within the environment, it`s basic operations and the required integrations
  • Work closely with the environment manager to build governance around environment reservations, maintaining SLA`s, establishing best practices, setting up of selective and safe self servicing mechanisms for users thus enabling smoother non-prod environment setups and management.
  • Drawing upon specialist skills (such as a configuration management subject matter expert) within the organization, orchestrating their activities
  • Create build books and document SOPs for Test environment build/setup and all kind of requests
  • Following the defined standard operating procedure for delivery of test environments.
  • Following the standard procedures to monitor, support and report on each environment availability
  • Root cause analysis and Long term solution for problems
  • Identify service improvements and focus on continuous improvements in the non prod env. management.

Technical & Behavioral Competencies

Mandatory Technical Skills:

  • Hands on experience in non-prod environment setup and maintenance
  • Advanced Unix Shell scripting knowledge to be able to write shell scripts on demand as per requirement
  • Experience in Troubleshooting environment issues with respect to both hardware and software integration
  • Knowledge/ experience on Linux OS and troubleshooting OS issues
  • Experience in scheduling tools like autosys is highly appreciated
  • Basic DevOps knowledge is highly preferable
  • Ability to learn & work on diverse technologies (languages, frameworks, and tools)
  • Previous support experience in APS or ADM backgrounds is highly preferable
