The Red Hat Telecom Solution Delivery team is looking for an experienced Telecommunication Operations Manager in Tokyo, Japan. In this role, you will need to have solid analytical skills and initiative to achieve a significant impact on our business. You will work alongside product marketing, sales specialists, and our services and consulting teams to guide adoption of our business portfolio. To achieve this goal, you will be tasked to build, maintain, and grow long-lasting loyalty between Red Hat, our customers, as well as our strategic partners. It will be your responsibility to fully understand Red Hat Telco reference architecture implementations. You will share best practices, and serve as a point of contact for any major incidents, help manage customer expectations and communications to resolution of critical business impacting incidents. You will need to be able to work as part of a team, enjoy working hard, be professional and dedicated to exceeding expectations while building internal and external relationships. You will be required to have excellent collaboration skills, the ability to learn new technologies quickly, and use your time efficiently. 

What you will do

  • Develop relationships with key business, technology and operations stakeholders and become an expert on customer implementations by understanding their top business goals and priorities
  • Provide advice and guidance to customers about their use of current and future Red Hat offerings
  • Contribute to the development of repeatable methodologies and tools designed to scale. Designing and scoping delivery projects as well as leading consulting teams through successful customer pilot and production deployments
  • Define and deliver key business analytics and metrics packages to internal stakeholders
  • Provide delivery escalation management, serving as an escalation point for issues beyond project team authority; resolve conflicts involving project priorities, resources, or contractual issues with customers
  • Create customer engagement plans and keep the documentation on customer environments updated
  • Engage with Red Hat’s product engineering teams to help develop solutions patterns, based on customer engagements as well as personal experience, that promote platform adoption
  • Engage with Red Hat’s field teams, customers, and partners to ensure a positive Telecommunications NFV experience and a successful outcome resulting in long-term enterprise success
  • Travel, as necessary, to visit customers and attend events 

What you will bring

  • Proven track record of working in a support, development, engineering, services or quality assurance (QA) organization
  • Knowledge of one or more Communications Service Provider markets
  • Ability to manage and grow existing enterprise customer relationships by delivering proactive, relationship-based support
  • Specific knowledge in Mobile (5G, 4G, 3G, 2G) and/or Fixed networks (network architectures, service models, service provisioning)
  • Proven ability to work seamlessly with distributed cross-functional teams to achieve success on behalf of customers
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills to convey complex information to customers clearly and concisely
  • Competent comprehension of enterprise architecture and strategic business drivers
  • Ability to manage multiple issues and projects with focus on detail
  • Willingness to travel to client locations when needed.
  • Demonstrated passion for Open Source, software, tooling, and automation.
  • Proven ability to work seamlessly with distributed cross-functional teams to achieve success on behalf of customers.
  • Experience with SLAs & KPI/Metrics

Desired skills:

  • Strong Knowledge of Telecommunication business processes related to BSS and OSS operations (eTOM, FrameworX, ITIL)
  • Familiarity with technologies like Open VSwitch, OpenFlow, OpenStack, Kubernetes, Docker, etc.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Solutions mentality in an environment with multiple products and services.
  • Experience with Red Hat products, in depth knowledge a plus
  • Degree in Electrical, Telecommunications or other network-related Engineering, or equivalent Industry certification (CCNP, JCNP, etc)
  • Multiple years of industry experience, preferably in the Telecommunications industry
