WSP USA is seeking an Assistant Vice President – Electrical Engineer for our multi-disciplinary Property & Buildings’ Team in our Los Angeles, CA office.

The Assistant Vice-President is expected to lead projects, responsible for design of projects, assist in inspiring our team, continue our growth and success in our current market sectors and in diversifying our client and project base.

Your Impact

  • Advanced knowledge of own discipline/department Large Scale or High-Level complexity projects and fees
  • Serve as a local leader to champion and inspire our team, represent design, and reinforce WSP core values and brand.
  • Serve as a local technical leader for the Electrical Engineering Department.
  • Serve as a seller-doer generating work, creating long-term relationships, and delivering long-term value to clients for WSP.
  • Developing, reviewing, and approving proposals, reports, and contract documents.
  • Developing and maintaining industry relationships and visibility with current and prospective clients, sub-consultants, competitor/teaming partners, and potential recruits.
  • Engages staff on design, ensures design process is followed and influences usage of technological tools.
  • Takes ultimate responsibility for the quality and profitability of his/her projects.
  • Take personal responsibility for coaching, developing, and growing our staff.
  • Demonstrate local leadership by participating as the electrical engineering thought leader in professional organizations, activities, and services that further the firm’s vision, value and relationships.
  • Mentor staff to support their growth and professional development.
  • Remain current in latest electrical engineering techniques and practices.
  • Collaborates with professionals from a variety of disciplines, other engineers, planners, and infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded improvement and development projects, as well as proposal and business development opportunities.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering.
  • Minimum 10+ years of proven experience in the Electrical Engineering Design discipline, inclusive of five (5) or more years’ experience in Marketing, Client Development, and/or management of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Experience in project management.
  • Leadership and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good collaboration skills to collaborate with team members and others efficiently.
  • Baseline experience and understanding of AGI32 or Visual (or similar).
  • Proven ability to understand and recognize complex design problems.
  • Versatile, self-motivated and articulate.
  • Knowledge of Electrical and related California Building Codes.
  • Knowledge of Green Building practices and LEED Rating Systems.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating and assertively directing subcontractors and others to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • LEED certification.
  • Experience on healthcare projects and knowledge of OSHPD preferred.
  • Experience with the Life Sciences market, project and specific market sector experience is preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit documentation and management as it applies to Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience and understanding in EnergyPRO.

Compensation: 

Expected Salary (all locations): $133,400 - $198,220 

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
