Job Description:

Join our dynamic healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest! The Lincoln Regional Center, a Joint Commission-accredited state psychiatric hospital inpatient and residential program, provides compassionate and comprehensive mental health services to our diverse community. In this role you will be an integral part of our Behavioral Health Division and provide critical oversight and care to adult patients with mental illness

The Forensic Psychiatrist will play a crucial role in evaluating and assessing individuals involved in legal cases, offering expert opinions, and providing mental health insights within a legal context. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of both psychiatry and the legal system, demonstrating the ability to conduct comprehensive assessments and communicate findings effectively.

Pay starts at $350,000 and is commensurate on education and experience.

Job Duties:

  • Prepares specialized forensic evaluation reports for the courts and others based on knowledge of specific forensic psychiatry issues, including competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility and prediction of future dangerousness.
  • Conducts evaluations to provide opinions on civil commitment and other specialized forensic issues, as well as the psychiatric status of patients
  • Collaborate with a team of clinicians, nurses, and support staff to deliver comprehensive care.
  • Participate in case reviews, treatment planning, and peer consultations.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • M.D. degree and license to practice medicine in Nebraska
  • Must have completed an ACGME accredited forensic psychiatry fellowship and be board eligible or board certified in forensic psychiatry.
  • Applicants must be interested in working for the State of Nebraska forensic psychiatry department up to 50% of the time.
  • Applicants must be interested in working in the State of Nebraska clinical care services carrying a clinical case load as assigned.
