Japan Debt Capital Markets (DCM) is the industry leading team, with top league table for non-JPY bond underwriting of Japan’s leading corporate and financial institutions.

As an Associate/Vice President banker within Japan DCM team, you will be primarily focusing on assisting in the origination and execution of debt related transactions for Japanese corporates/financial institutions/sovereign supranational and agency (SSA). Main product range includes USD/EUR/GBP denominated senior bonds/bank capitals/insurance hybrids/SSA bonds/ESG bonds/Samurai bonds/liability management.

Job responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day project execution and origination
  • Prepare presentation materials, including global debt market update, pitch materials, pricing information and case studies
  • Arrange Investor Relation activity for clients
  • Build and maintaining client relationship
  • Liaise with other internal and external parties on transactions (i.e. sector investment bankers, debt syndicates, DCM team in other regions, fixed income sales force, lawyers, compliance, accountants, other banks etc)
  • Grow understanding of how the firm's full range of products and services can add value in different situations

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Working experience in financial industry (or related)
  • Strong research skills
  • Strong project management capability
  • Ability to tie big picture view of the markets to the identification of opportunities to issuers
  • High meets expectations of attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills in English & Japanese to present ideas and concepts in a creative way
  • Enthusiastic with an eagerness to learn and apply new knowledge, absorb and digest market intelligence on a daily basis
  • Strong skills in Excel and PowerPoint. Bloomberg skills would be viewed positively

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skill

  • Ability to successfully prioritize and deliver competing requirements
  • Preferably with experience in DCM
