What We're Looking For

The Director of Development/Senior Director of Development will support the mission of Baylor University by cultivating, soliciting, and stewardship of a portfolio of donors and prospects for major gifts to Baylor, especially for their respective colleges and units. 

A bachelor's degree, five years of relevant work experience and an active Christian faith are required. A master's degree and seven years of experience are preferred. 

A valid Texas Driver License with a clear driving record of at least two years is required.

A hybrid work arrangement may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States on a Full-Time basis. 

What You Will Do

  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of donors and prospects for major gifts to Baylor, especially for their respective colleges and units. 
  • Collaborate with respective deans, directors, or other senior administrators in developing impactful philanthropic agendas consistent with Baylor's and colleges'/units' strategic plans for major and prospective donors. 
  • With the leadership of the Assistant VP and Associate VP for Development, establish yearly measurable goals/objectives, related metrics for new gift commitments secured, proposals made, new prospects qualified, and prospect meetings held.
  • Participate fully in Advancement’s prospect management, discovery/qualification visits and related prospect development programs.
  • Assist, as requested by the Assistant VP of Development, and Associate VP for Development with programs to increase giving to Baylor.
  • Collaborate with deans, directors, and other senior administrators on structuring, enlisting, educating, focusing, and partnering with college and unit advisory boards and councils to increase giving.
  • Collaborate with other Advancement team members to inspire trust, encourage creative thinking, and collaborate with other Baylor staff and volunteers to significantly increase private gifts to Baylor.
  • Candidates will be assigned a portfolio of donors who will need to be visited in person. The donor pool is primarily in TX but could require meeting with donors out of state. There will be extensive travel by car and there could be some travel by plane. 
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission.
  • Ability to comply with University policies.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
