Job Description

• Responsible for designing and optimizing Wix’s large-scale database infrastructure according to high availability, scalability, and performance principles 
• Identify new areas for cost-effective improvement in current databases 
• Explore new features, versions, and databases according to requirements
• Work with developers and software architects in modeling, creating and maintaining data structures and Wix’s data layer
• Lead and execute technical DB-related POCs and benchmarks 
• Auditing database design regularly to maintain quality and SLA demands 
• Quickly identify and resolve critical and hard production issues
• Provide on-call support when needed

Qualifications

• A diligent Senior Database Engineer, a technical leader, or DBA TL/ex-TL who led major database agendas
• 8+ years in-depth, hands-on production experience in either MySQL, MongoDB, Relational DBMS and NoSQL data stores
• Experience with Data Solution Architecture, High Availability, Scalability, Backups and DR, Data Modeling, Performance tuning, POCs and benchmark
• An advantage if you have:
• Experience with 24/7 production environments
• Passion for automating things - worked with Ansible/Jenkins/puppet/chef 
• Experience with the design of new systems, tools, and products
• A lot of experience working with developers and best practices
• Experience with k8s, Kafka, and BI methodologies
• Monitoring tools and methods experience
• Excellent attention to detail
• A fast learner with deep infrastructure knowledge in Unix/Linux systems. 
• You’ve worked with Cloud products like AWS and GCP Data products
• Excellent interpersonal communication to work with professionals from different departments

Wix’s Database Group - Talented and professional DB Engineers who are part of Wix’s Infrastructure Group. We’re in charge of hundreds of MySQL, MongoDB, and ElasticSearch production database clusters with PBs of data on AWS Cloud platforms in terms of deployment, development, management, and monitoring. We work tightly coupled with System, DevOps Production Engineers and R&D Developers on all of our databases’ infrastructure & applicative aspects.
