Responsibilities and main tasks

The Head of Tax Belgium has overall responsibility for the country tax controlling, strategic planning and compliance with local tax laws as well as Siemens internal policies. He/She is responsible for the design, roll out and ongoing optimization of a 'One Tax Function' covering all Siemens entities in Belgium: (Siemens NV, DI SW in Leuven, Siemens Mobility, Siemens Healthineers, Innomotics, Varian Medical Systems) and Luxembourg: (Siemens NV Branch, Siemens Healthineers NV branch, Fast Track Diagnostics).

This role comprises as main tasks:

  • Management of Tax Compliance for Siemens Belgium: Ensures compliance with tax laws and complete, correct and timely submission of all Tax Returns as well as payment of taxes in Belgium. Management of Tax Audits.
  • Management of Siemens Belgium Tax Position: Review, manage and optimize Siemens effective tax rate (ETR), tax payments, deferred tax, and tax losses.
  • Effective Tax Risk Management: Review and proactively manage the tax governance process for Siemens in Belgium.
  • Strategic Tax Planning and Tax Optimization: Provide appropriate planning to create value within an agreed risk framework and to ensure Siemens business can be conducted efficiently and effectively whilst being fully compliant with tax laws. Manage and optimize tax advice for Business and M&A (investments and disposals).
  • Global Tax Co-ordination: Represent Siemens Belgium tax within the internal global tax community and responsible for complete, correct and timely tax reporting to Siemens AG for group reporting.
  • Tax point of contact for foreign Siemens branches in case of questions regarding Belgian tax legislation. And assistance with tax obligations and contacts with Belgian and Luxembourg tax administration in case of projects.
  • Management of Tax Department: Responsible for tax department budget, functional and disciplinary management of direct staff reports and tax service delivery in all areas of tax including Compliance, Reporting, Planning and Governance.
  • Leadership and Personnel Management: As a department head responsible for leading the team in disciplinary and/or non-disciplinary matters and representing the department within the company.

Required Competencies

  • Degree in Law, Finance or Accounting with a specialization / focus on Tax
  • Profound knowledge in Belgium Tax comprising direct, indirect and international tax matters, which has been developed in a tax advisory firm or in-house tax function.
  • You will have at least 10 years of working experience covering tax advisory, tax compliance and tax reporting aspects.
  • You will have at least 5 years of experience in a team leadership role.
  • High motivation, excellent communication skills, decision making skills, growth mindset, openness to work in international environment.
  • Language skills in Flemish, French and Englisch.
