Job Description Summary

Acts as a point of contact and liaison among business stakeholders in order to elicit, analyse, communicate, and validate requirements for changes to business products; processes and systems. May also be a liaison to external customers and third-party suppliers/vendors.

Works closely with product owner, product director and product colleagues across the business area.

Collects, analyses data to document requirements, and translates into detailed technology needs & formal specifications. Ensuring needs of stakeholders and business are met.

Reviews business and product needs, instructions, regulations, and laws for complex projects.

Authors & communicates requirements documentation Depending on the nature of the project, undertakes a combination of project management, technical implementation, and testing analyst tasks.

Expected to have either a strong proprietary knowledge base and multiple years of previous experience in requirements analysis and authoring.

Takes on higher level business requirements & specifications.

Responsible for product management and analysis activity in their assigned features and/or workstreams, including the elicitation, analysis and documentation of business needs in order to formulate business requirements at the Feature, Epic and User Story levels for each workstream they are responsible for. Self-manages their own day-to-day activities of product ownership and analysis. Builds a strong relationship with all stakeholders, ensuring that product ownership activities and products are clearly communicated. Works closely with architects & developers to ensure solution designs meet business requirements, including non-functional requirements. Ensures RAID log(s) are updated with related risks, issues and dependencies for their workstreams and/or team. Models complex business processes and suggests process improvements as required.

Additional Job Description

Knowledge & Skill :

  • Product ownership (or business analysis) experience
  • Excellent knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle (Agile / Scrum and Waterfall).
  • Financial services domain knowledge is ideal, preferably financial markets and fixed income
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate effectively with senior members of staff.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong knowledge of Jira / Confluence / Excel
  • SQL knowledge beneficial.

Scope of Impact :

  • Responsible for product ownership activities within their workstream
  • Provides input to business area objectives and solutions.
  • Advises colleagues on functional matters.
  • Supports Product Manager where required.

Strategic Planning & Decision Making :

  • Makes recommendations and decisions that shape the product.
  • Determines the nature of complex or undefined problems; independently identifies the best solution from many alternatives and validates their root cause, considering the broader commercial picture.
  • Owns and/or escalates higher risk or more unique problems.
  • Decisions require interpretive thinking and some judgment in developing solutions.
