FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Center for Puerto Rican Studies (Centro) is a university-based research institute, housed at Hunter College, whose mission consists of two components. One is to collect, preserve and provide access to archival and library resources documenting the history and culture of Puerto Ricans. The other is to produce, facilitate, and disseminate interdisciplinary research about the diasporic experience of Puerto Ricans and to link this scholarly inquiry to social action and policy debates.
The Centro Library and Archives is responsible for comprehensively collecting, organizing, maintaining, and making available primary and secondary sources on the Puerto Rican experience. The Library and Archives share and supports Centro’s overall mission. The Library collects in all areas of Puerto Rican Studies and in all formats. It is particularly strong in migration and the diasporic experience. The Archives’ strengths are principally in social history but hold important collections that highlight culture and the arts.
This is a faculty position in the Hunter College Library department. Reappointment, tenure, and promotion are subject to the Library department bylaws and guidelines for tenure and promotion. The Head Librarian jointly reports to the Center Director and the Hunter Chief Librarian and has the responsibilities of but not limited to:
QUALIFICATIONS
Associate/Full Professor: Supports a college library through providing in-depth consultation with students and faculty and collaboration for the ongoing improvement of instructional programs and practices. Pursues an active scholarly agenda, performs supervisory duties, and participates in college-and university-wide programs and committees as assigned.

Salary commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience.
Associate Professor: $82,928 – $100,329
Professor: $104,057– $129,310
