ARCO/Murray National Construction is seeking a highly motivated Waste to Value (W2V) Project Manager who is passionate about the design/build construction process to join our our team focused on industries pushing sustainable solutions based in Chicago, IL. This is an opportunity to work on Commercial Construction projects in relation to Anaerobic Digestion, Fermentation, Gasification, Pyrolysis, Gas Utilization, Aerobic Composting or Alternative Protein & Fertilizer Production. A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • The W2V Project Manager will lead a wide variety of organics management construction activities across several business sectors: municipal organics management, agriculture and industrial organics management, generation of biofuel and management.
  • Consult and assist Project manager with design modifications during construction.
  • Resolve project technical issues with internal team, subcontractors, vendors, main contractors and/or related third parties.
  • Support independent engineering activities and provide expertise in preparing due diligence reports.
  • Be a thought leader in organics management and circular economy (anaerobic and aerobic processes, and digester gas/biogas/landfill gas unitization especially gas conditioning and upgrading to RNG)
  • Develop and apply organics management concepts and approaches to unique construction problems. Oversee collection, assimilation, and management of engineering work. Manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Lead and coordinate all managerial and administrative aspects of project from the earliest stages of preconstruction through project closeout
  • Work closely with clients and the design team to develop preliminary concept drawings and project budget
  • Participate in the proposal meeting with clients to review the scope of work, discuss ways to reduce costs, provide value engineering ideas, and negotiate contracts & fees
  • Oversee subcontractor selection and buyout process for all trades and vendors
  • Identify and investigate opportunities to procure material and/or specialty equipment directly when advantageous to project budget or schedule
  • Work with Project Superintendent to develop and review subcontractor scopes of work/contracts, project schedule, and site logistics plan
  • Lead preconstruction planning meetings with all designers, subcontractors and vendors aimed at solving potential constructability, sequencing, and/or manpower issues
  • Lead weekly/bi-weekly OAC meetings on-site once construction begins to review progress and address challenges directly with client
  • Track and manage project performance vs budget; prepare owner pay applications, cost status, and progress billing reports
  • Most importantly…find a way to make the construction process FUN for your clients, subcontractors, and vendors without sacrificing on QUALITY or SAFETY!!!

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering or related engineering field
  • 2-3 Years Experience in organics management via anaerobic and aerobic digestion/composting processes and system designs or in digester gas/biogas/landfill gas utilization via upgrading to biomethane and renewable compressed natural gas.
  • Knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards related to assigned engineering discipline.
  • Positive, team-first attitude; entrepreneurial mindset a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate technologies and processes both technically and economically.
  • Experience directly engaging clients on technical matters including conferences and workshops.
  • Proficiency using Word, Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Project
