Summary

RNDC is looking for a skilled cloud engineer to join our growing team. The Senior Cloud Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and support of Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud engineer with expertise in the strategy, design, development, and implementation of large-scale projects in the cloud.

In this role, you will

• Develop and implement technical efforts to design, build, and deploy AWS applications at the direction of lead architects, including large-scale data processing, computationally intensive statistical modeling, and advanced analytics
• Participate in all aspects of the software development life cycle for AWS solutions, including planning, requirements, development, testing, and quality assurance
• Employ exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to see and solve issues before they affect business productivity
• Troubleshoot incidents, identify root cause, fix and document problems, and implement preventive measures
• Educate teams on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training as required

What you bring to RNDC

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; work with cross-functional/inter-disciplinary teams to craft IT solutions; communicate complex information to a non-technological audience; troubleshoot technology problems; 3 – 5 or more years related experience, of which should be with hands on architecting, designing, developing, and implementing cloud solutions on AWS platforms; or equivalent combination of education and experience; knowledge of web services, API, REST, and RPC; 3+ years of experience architecting, designing, developing, and implementing cloud solutions on AWS platforms; an understanding of and experience with the five pillars of a well-architected frameworks; experience in several of the following areas: database architecture, ETL, business intelligence, big data, machine learning, advanced analytics; knowledge of Lean / Agile development methodologies; ability to work with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to assess applications, software and hardware; develop, coordinate and administrate AWS infrastructure; automate deployments, infrastructure as code; containerization, (Kubernetes, Docker) troubleshooting and support task experience; experience with high availability and business continuity principles; experience with Terraform; Jenkins/Ansible/Bash scripting/Chef experience/Gitlab CI; Linux servers troubleshooting and support tasks; ability to oversee governance and mitigate risk.
