We are currently seeking for skilled and motivated Senior Development Engineer (m/f/d) for the area Vehicle Control Passenger Coaches Department in Vienna and/or Graz. As a vehicle Control Software Senior Developer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining the software systems that control the operation of Siemens Push/Pull trains. Your expertise will contribute to the safety, efficiency, and reliability of train transportation systems. Siemens Passenger Coaches are manufactured in Vienna and other Siemens locations, and they transport people across Europe in day and night trains such as the Railjet for Austrian and Czech railway operators.

In this role, you can actively design the future of sustainable high-speed cross-border train service in Europe. We transform the everyday!

Tasks

  • You will collaborate in a team of software developers. The different train-functionalities to be developed are clustered and handed over in the responsibility of one specific developer.
  • You will be managed by the lead engineer, who is in charge of the train control software.
  • You are responsible for your function cluster, particularly:
  • Definition of the software requirements based on the system requirements.
  • Clarification of the software interfaces together with control unit lead engineer.
  • Implementation of the functionalities in the train control software.
  • You derive test specifications to carry out so called Engineering-developer tests for your function cluster eighter in the laboratory or directly on the train.
  • You support the validation test engineers in the preparation of the final validation test in order to achieve homologation certification.

Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related mechanical or electrical field.
  • Proven experience in real-time software development, preferably in the transportation or rail industry.
  • Ideally familiar with safety-critical software development and concerning standards).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • As part of your job, you will also be required to travel to other European Siemens locations and rail-vehicle test facilities in the Czech Republic and Germany

We offer an attractive remuneration package in line with your qualifications and professional experience. The legally required minimum gross annual salary according to the collective agreement for this position is at least EUR 76.000,- (All in contract). Depending on your education, experience and overtime, a higher salary can be agreed. As a large corporation, Siemens also offers additional social benefits.
