Job Description Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented individual to lead our efforts in expanding market share, identifying new business opportunities, and driving growth in the field of industrial equipment manufacturing such as waste heat recovery boilers, cryogenic pressure vessels, separators and contract manufacturing of heat exchanger, column, rolling stock, reactors, furnaces etc. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in business development within the heavy equipment manufacturing sector, exposure to end-customers from Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Metals & Mining, and Defense industries, and a strategic mindset to navigate complex markets.

This role will report directly to Managing Director, GEPIL.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Strategy Development:
  • Understand and assess the current capabilities of GEPIL Durgapur, map global and domestic trends and developments related to the expanded portfolio and set realistic yet profitable business plans for execution of the same
  • Understand and map the current cost, capacity, and capability matrix of Durgapur and specifically so for the new products
  • Align leadership and adjacent business functions and set achievable business plan with clear road map for the firm to achieve targets on the expanded portfolio of business
  • Define and construct an annualized BD budget. Spend, measure, and report the returns of the BD spends in key strategic meetings of the firm
  • Client Relationship Management:
  • Cultivate and maintain trust and value based long term relationships with existing clients, ensuring satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Identify and define a portfolio of potential clients and engage with them to expand the customer base.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to understand client needs and tailor solutions accordingly.
  • Sales and Revenue Generation:
  • Define the value proposition for GEPIL Durgapur for expanded product portfolio
  • Lead the sales team to achieve revenue targets and market penetration goals.
  • Accountable for Order Booking, CM% and ITO cash.
  • Maintain accurate and updated project and opportunity information with the Sales data base system and manage the Inquiry to Order ("ITO") process for assigned accounts
  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to drive business growth.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements, ensuring favorable terms for the company.
  • Capability Development and Innovation:
  • Collaborate with the product development team to enhance existing products and explore new offerings
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and technological advancements to drive innovation.
  • Establish a deep connect with a personal brand with the eco system of clients, vendor partners and brand owners/OEMs
  • Get the Durgapur Factory qualified and registered as supplier for target customers
  • Be able to prepare technical documents including Product & Services (Factory capability) Brochures and any other knowledge sharing tools/documents
  • Collaboration and Cross-functional Leadership:
  • Work effectively in a team environment with Commercial Operations, Engineering, Finance, and Project management to ensure the most efficient use of all resources.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the business development team, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Mechanical, Chemical, Metallurgical Engineering Graduate or equivalent degree from an accredited university or college with 15+ years of experience; MBA will be added advantage.
  • Previous experience in leading the Business Development and Sales team of industrial equipment manufacturing company

Desired Characteristics

  • Proven experience in business development/Sales within the manufacturing sector, at-least in one of sector - waste heat recovery boilers, cryogenic pressure vessels, separators, heat exchanger, column, rolling stock, reactors, furnaces, or related products (preferred cryogenic pressure vessels).
  • Extensive working experience with End Customers, EPC Contractors, Project Management Consultants and Technology Providers.
  • Knowledge on various international and national standards and codes for equipment design, manufacturing, quality requirement specially in Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Metals & Mining, Cryogenics, Railways.
  • Knowledge of key partners / service providers in the respective business segment - design & Engineering, field services, Inspection services.
  • Knowledge on raw material sourcing and key suppliers in the respective business domain.
  • Strong technical understanding of industrial equipment and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, interpersonal and responsive skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams to achieve ambitious targets.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
