About the Role

As the Director of Personalization Product Data Science, you will be at the forefront of driving data-driven decision-making to enhance our online shopping platform. This role involves leading a team of skilled data scientists, collaborating closely with product managers, engineers, and other cross-functional teams to develop and implement data science solutions that optimize product recommendations, personalization, and overall user experience.

What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Strategy:

  • Develop and execute a data science strategy aligned with business objectives to enhance the overall product discovery and recommendation experience.
  • Lead and inspire a team of data scientists, setting a vision for innovation and excellence.

Product Analytics and Data Science:

  • Drive customer behavioral insights and recommend new features for App and Web based on advanced statistical modeling and analysis
  • Partner with UX, Product Management to instrument events and analyze and optimize e-commerce funnel

Experimentation, and Causal Inference:

  • Design and analyze A/B tests to measure the impact of data science-driven features and recommendations on user behavior and business metrics.
  • Create measurement frameworks and KPIs for entire e-commerce funnel
  • Perform causal inference when A/B testing is not feasible
  • Apply advanced statistical methods such as sequential testing, switchback, synthetic control

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with product managers, UX designers, and other stakeholders to understand business goals and align data science initiatives with the product roadmap.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to integrate data-driven insights into promotional strategies.

Performance Monitoring and Optimization:

  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for product-related data science initiatives.
  • Continuously monitor and optimize models based on user engagement, conversion rates, and other relevant metrics.

Communication and Reporting:

  • Effectively communicate data science findings and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on the performance and impact of e-commerce product data science initiatives.

Who You Are

  • Advance degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, or related disciplines.
  • Proven experience in leading data science teams, with a focus on e-commerce or online retail.
  • Strong expertise in machine learning, recommendation systems, and personalization algorithms.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as Python or R.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence decision-making at the executive level.
